'15 LA RB Kendall Bussey (Former UT commit)

Guys this is the reality that we are in right now. Unfortunately it might happen one or two more times before Wednesday. I wish we could take as many as we wanted, but that 25 number looms large. If a couple don't gray shirt, we have to lose more. We can't back count any, and the 25 is a hard cap.

Why do these kids even commit to a school if it doesn't mean anything? I just don't get it. I know they are 18 but decomitting just makes them look bad no matter how many stars they have or what the situation is.

Interesting. I think the Paulk return could be true with Sapp now on board and how we went from desparate for 3 RBs to not all of a sudden. Also that could just be an easy out for him to use numbers as his reasoning. You never know.

It also make me feel a lot better about getting Richmond and Patrick as they were two guys that we weren't planning on before.

Deerpark is solid, but until there's confirmation from Hubbs, P. Fort, or Brice, then I'm sticking to the idea that reinstatement is still possible. If I recall, Paulk said he planned to transfer if he couldn't return to the team. The longer he's on campus, the greater his chances of returning are IMO.

Agreed..GFW is more of a source and said he has been allowed in places that they don't allow guys who won't be part of the team. And suddenly only taking 2a RB's sounds like he will be back.

In state kid Keshawn Vaughn is a name to look for. ...I hoping for this. ...close to the family. .it's personal. Kids a gamer

I was reading his timeline on 247 sports and he went from being a Tulane commit to Nebraska to Tennessee to TAMU. This kid has flipped more times than Mary Lou Retton.

Paul just reinterated that the Dad said they were not concerned with numbers at his position and that it was a total # issue in the class issue.

Think we asked him to GS due to his injury and our #'s crunch.

It has to happen guys and may happen again to another 1 or 2.

This would be on par with Butch's recruiting style. It's not a clean tactic per se but DE and RB were the most obvious first cuts. If Richmond is in I think this is the result. Some coaches view grey shirting as a legitimate alternative to redshirting. Not all parents or prospects hold that same position. Some would rather take the obvious choice, which is to get to a D1 school and start your career ASAP. I can understand that.

You'd hardly think he's a genuine Vols fan with the snide stuff he shoehorns into his posts... So I don't. :)

You are hilarious... I am pointing out that the staff did not do a good job if the kid leaves an official visit and flips.... everyone else would be saying the same thing if it were a higher profile kid... sorry if I look at things realistically and see that no one and no staff is perfect... I am a realist and not a blind sunshine pumper... In reality the staff probably didn't try that hard because it sounds like he was not a priority and numbers ARE the issue.... now, does that sound better? Does that all of a sudden make me a genuine Vols fan and you now approve? You might want to ease up calling folks out on this board about their loyalties when you don't know jack-squat about them personally... Just because I list that I live in bammer, I have a hunch you automatically think I am not a true fan... born and raised in TN, worked and paid my own way through UT, graduated in 94'... attend at least two games a year at home and every other year go to an away location with the family.... does that make me a good enough Vols fan?--- to the guy with a white lap dog on his profile? :salute:

Looks like we are no longer "the flavor of the week".. He has committed to Tulane... Nebraska...Tennessee...now Texas A&M. Who does he flip to on signing day???

How many RBs consistently play at AL, FLA, and OSU? 1-2 maybe?? I understand the depth issue, but the only school I have effectively witnessed rotate multiple (3 or 4) RBs in a single game is LSU. Most schools let the first 1-2 RBs get 80-90% of the carries. Don't get me wrong, I want Bussey, but I can also see where he looks at our situation and sees a "crowded" backfield.

I don't see a team with one returning SEC experienced back as crowded. Kamara has done nothing yet, Kelly is undersized compared to Bussey. Those are the only guys he's competing with, another FR and a JUCO.

Can we sticky this to the top of each page. You know, to make sure people understand, and dont get confused. Maybe? I know one person it will really help, and that's what I'm here for, IMO.

staff may have felt he was already leaning toward flipping and decided that they were ok with losing him so just gave him a little nudge to avoid hurting the relationship with someone else.

Our cap is actually 23 with Swafford and the BS from last year.

That means if we add Richmond we need 6 GS or BS.

Alabama played Yeldon, Henry, and Drake with regularity until Drake's injury.

Georgia played Gurley, Chubb, and Michel with regularity until Gurley's suspension.

Florida and OSU played 2 RBs mostly, but also have running QBs who absorb a lot of carries too.

And UF was terrible offensively so they're not even a decent comparison IMO.
