'15 LA RB Kendall Bussey (Former UT commit)

RDAIV is gonna play slot. Bruce and Perry will redshirt or see time on special teams only IMO. That leaves Hurd, Kamara, Bussey, and Kelly...4 RBs. Where's the crowd?

You see it your way. Obviously I see it differently. As I have said MANY times after that 3rd RB, I'd be fine with situational guys holding down those spots. Especially when 2 guys IMO will see almost all the carries.

Who's to say one of Kelly or Bussey could potentially RS as well. Predicting who will make the transition in year 1 is next to impossible.

Guys I've read the responses and am now cleaning up my part in derailing the thread. If anyone has any other suggestions besides trying to keep lengthy numbers and attrition discussions in the appropriate threads, feel fee to email me. I appreciate everyone's feedback.

Goodnight fellas. . :hi:

You da man Freak! If it weren't for you and VN I may have had to resort to actually working at my job.

Surely, he actually sends in his LOI before 4:30 EST, when he's set to officially sign at his high school. Usually, things are over by mid to late morning.

I hope KB signs with our Vols. He would be valued in the system and developed well by the staff. But if he chooses to be an Aggie, so be it. Only orange blooded VFL's should report for duty and compete for playing time. Which is how it should be.

See - no mention of numbers, too many RB's, Butch mistreating recruits, etc. Don't take LV's bait, people. The ignore feature works nicely if posters refrain from responding.

I am not concerned about this commitment one bit. We already have 2 solid RB prospects committed for this class WITHOUT even mentioning J. Bruce and V. Perry. The position seems a bit crowded as it is. Regardless of who we sign, attrition will happen. It always does. T. Paulk will make this situation interesting. My hunch? Bussey will be an Aggie. But guess what?? Go Vols Baby!

Crowded as is? We have Hurd as the only proven SEC back.

I swear, some have no idea what a team should be composed of. Bama, UGA, LSU, OM are all playing 3-4 RB per game, assuming no injuries. We have ONE returning.

We need Kelly and Bussey. Shirley he knows that.

I'm sorry everyone, but this is the obligatory follow-up and I'm just the type of hero you need right now:

How many RBs consistently play at AL, FLA, and OSU? 1-2 maybe?? I understand the depth issue, but the only school I have effectively witnessed rotate multiple (3 or 4) RBs in a single game is LSU. Most schools let the first 1-2 RBs get 80-90% of the carries. Don't get me wrong, I want Bussey, but I can also see where he looks at our situation and sees a "crowded" backfield.

Who has a less crowded backfield than us? We have 2 RBs on campus and two freshman committed including him. Not to mention, you don't wait until you have no backs to recruit some. You have to have guys that come in and redshirt like they are supposed to and develop. That's everywhere. It has nothing to do with how many carries they get next year. They are not going to go start anywhere in the SEC, however, they have an opportunity to get more carries here next year than just about anywhere. Look at atm's backfield, then look at ours. We have 2 backs on campus, that's it.

Alabama played Yeldon, Henry, and Drake with regularity until Drake's injury.

Georgia played Gurley, Chubb, and Michel with regularity until Gurley's suspension.

Florida and OSU played 2 RBs mostly, but also have running QBs who absorb a lot of carries too.

Hurd is the only given. Bussey can come in and get #2 carries if he beats out the other guys. That is not crowded at all.
