'15 JUCO RB Alvin Kamara (UT commit 6/21/14)

Yeah, because admitting around 5 superstars a year who aren't up to UT's academic standards will completely ruin the university's integrity. And Jenny Wright tried to resign and keep it out of the media, but Susan Martin wouldn't let her. Martin would rather embarrass the athletic department.

Let's go out on the streets of Knoxville and ask 100 people if they're embarrassed about the Jenny Wright situation at UT. I guarantee you would get about 95 blank stares.

For those of us that like and use the ignore feature...please at least quit quoting kyoon2. Bash him all you like, but without quoting him...in case you have not noticed, he evidently craves attention. You are making him happy and beating down your fellow Vols. I could not care less about his diatribe. I appreciate your football oriented posts.
Thanking you in advance,
your brother Vols :hi:

Says here he sat out to satisfy transfer rules. Says nothing of scholarship. You may be right on this.

I hate to admit this but, I have relatives that are Auburn fans. Saw them yesterday, they said he was released by Bama. That's the only way I would know.

Corey Grant Bio - AuburnTigers.com - Official Athletics Site of the Auburn Tigers

Grant didn't quite fit in the Tide's plans -- or the depth chart -- and when he asked for a release from his scholarship, he didn't get it.

A change of scenery: Corey Grant happy with Auburn, running back role after leaving Tide | AL.com

This is from a recent article a few weeks ago. I was only going by that. So you may be right because AL.com is not always the best source.

And yes whether you are released or not you have to sit out a year per the NCAA. But the gray area comes from the conference you play in like with the SEC that requires you pay your own way for 2 years.

And if you are not released can not get a scholarship from the new program.

But if a coach does not grant an athlete a release, the player must forfeit any scholarship opportunity, pay his own way to the new university and sit out the next season

The sad part in all of this is coaches have way to much control. If they recruit a kid and he does not pan out I believe the kid should be able to transfer without penalty.

There is a push to remove the penalty and have seen a sample proposal that wants any player that has attended a university for two years should be allowed to transfer without penalty. Sometimes it just does not work out for either side. Why not let the kid leave and go where he wants.

Truth.

Thanks but according to Honors Programs at UT | Chancellor's Honors (the official program's website) it's a requirement to have a 31+. Few exceptions are made. I've been there, worked with, and lived with these fellow volunteers. Your insinuations about them have earned my first ever ignore. And here I thought it would have been a candy or bama fan.

Now about kamara, him transferring would be nice. I like watching them freak out.

read again... not a requirement.

Kyoon,

Trying to help you out here. I would drop the criticism of others and refocus on the Alvin Kamara talk. Humility is a trait you'll learn as you become a little older. There are several successful people here on VolNation who chose to post here because they love their Alma Mater. You don't hear me brag about my MBA from Wharton or my PhD in international relations from John Hopkins.

You know freshly graduated kids man, no advice is going to work. I and most everyone was the same way, he'll learn. Excellent advice though, all the times I've seen you post I've never seen a hint of pride despite having one of the more impressive resumes.

This is so true. I worked with a guy who had just graduated with his MBA who literally went to the interim director of company I was working at and told him the incoming director was an idiot and that he should fire him and let him run the show.

He was 25 at the time. Needless to say, he no longer works here.

Come on fellas, don't lump all young guys in the same boat. I'm 21 and I'd like to think that I'm not an arrogant prick. But I don't graduate until next spring, so maybe I will turn into an arrogant prick then. :)

It's more of an inability to believe someone else is equally smart as you in areas you fancy yourself adept. You see fresh grads at workplaces all the time saying how poorly everything is run and how they'd do a much better job. I know I did for my first few months at my first job.

Lol at most of the money being brought in by the AD for the university. Currently 0 is being given by the AD to the university. At the highest, the AD gave 6 million a year, which is barely a drop in the budget bucket.

Dude is a troll. Not the Internet kind, but the bridge kind. Don't bother with him.

FTR, most AD's elsewhere aren't giving a fraction of $6mil to the academic side. We're one of the few idiots who do this.

As I posted before one of sites believes Kamara will not return. If so my best guess is he would head to JUCO if academics are the issue now. If he goes in Jan to JUCO he could graduate by spring of 2015 and be a part of that class. Meaning if this year is his redshirt year and he plays at JUCO next year he would have 3 years left, even though with his skill set would not need them. He could just try and transfer and sit out a year and still have 3 as well, but with the this semester has gone I am not sure he will have any options other than JUCO. JMO

Thanks TW for steering this thread back and bringing some info.
