'15 JUCO RB Alvin Kamara (UT commit 6/21/14)

And we cant forget about Derrick Henry. Man the rich get richer

He'll be an H-back. If Racean "Rock" Thomas goes to Bama as rumored then he'll possibly bypass all of the backs in this Bama class. He's already on the level of Kamara and Jones. Henry will not be a good RB in the SEC. He's too tall for the position.

Henry is elite, and he will play RB at the next level. And yes, I still hate Alabama with a passion.

While I might agree with you here, BB, I would take Henry in a heartbeat right now, considering we whiffed on all of our RBs basically. Wish we could have convinced Kamara to come play RB in Knoxville. Still can't believe Bama pulled those 4 RBs in one class...sickening!

That is where I think Henry will end up as well. Have Howard at TE with Henry at HB. And I agree that Rock is built for UA and will push the RBs in this for playing if he ends up at UA as a true freshman.

You'll see.....He's an elite athlete not an elite RB. He won't beat out Kamara or T.Jones. I also don't think he's a better RB than Tenpenny. And Rock Thomas was a more natural RB as a freshman in HS. So getting him in 2014(the best RB in the country IMO) would most certainly push him down the depth chart with Yeldon as the third year starter.

Seeing Rock Thomas on film is just half of it. I get to see the intangible things that makes him even more special.

I think Henry will make at RB for the simple fact of him trying to prove people wrong. Its not like it hasnt ever been done (E. George was the same size). Im glad Saban straight up told him that if he doesnt make it in 2 years he will be moved to another position.

Why? I dont understand....we've been waiting for you to come back. We do care. The vast majority care. You will never get 100% of people to agree on anything. Dont let the 5% over rule the rest!

Please stop begging her. Truth is, she said she was going to post something and decided not to for who knows what reason. I'm glad her son plays for UT. But this whole kissing her arse thing is ridiculous. If she wants to share input in this forum and give a different perspective than most of us have, then that's awesome. If not, big deal. It's not like any of us make or break these kids decisions regardless of what some of you like to think or are told.

Something else, the 500 like for her posting 3 word comments is beyond ridiculous. (same goes for the mods and supposed insiders). Don't get me wrong this isn't me necessarily hating an any of them(even though it is a good mechanism to give them some obviously much needed attention). This is me telling a large number of people to take their head of their behinds and stop acting so star struck on these boards.

Like a previous poster said about Kamara, who cares? He went elsewhere. Let's focus on who we have and who wants to be here. Could not care less about recruits that went elsewhere.

Henry has never played defense, and his high school coach has been quoted as saying Derrick would be lost on that side of the ball. He will play offense.

I know he will play offense. I have been saying that since the beginning. You directed that post to the wrong person.

I told you a while back he was the best in the state. I personally think he's the best back in the country for the 2014 cycle. If it's a better back I'd like to see him.

I am going to take some time to watch film to see if there is any other back besides Fournette that challenges him as the best back. Fournette is special also. His combination of size, speed, and power is unmatched based on what I have seen on film so far. Rock isnt as strong but he has better balance and vision, imo.

I like a quicker back for the SEC that's why I put Rock ahead of Fournette. His quickness and running style will fit right in down here in the SEC. Plus his ability to finish runs with his balance and power are nice. He can also catch the ball well. And he's not a small kid either. He's built for rugged play. And he has a nice burst too. I remember when I first watched him as a freshman. You can check the Alan Carson thread. I said UT should've been recruiting him then. Monster back IMO. Congrats on him if you get him. His partner Brandon Byner from Bessemer City is about to hit the 7 on 7 circuit. Very fast athlete that was unguardable at the Bama Camp last year.

I agree with most of what you are saying. I like MZT, but whether or not she posts on here really isn't going to change my life at all.

I do disagree with the bolded though. They actually discussed this on ESPN yesterday afternoon for several minutes. According to them fan post and twits DO have a lot of enfluence on the decisions these young men make. I don't know who else heard this, but to me, they might have just as well used UT by name when they were discussing it, because it sure as he!! sounded like they were talking to our fanbase.

We often forget that these young men are between 16-18 years old. The internet and twitter is a way of life for them. They don't realize that the idiots posting are a very small percentage of our actual fanbase (if they are really fans at all). They aren't going to put these people on ignore. They are going to read what is being said about them and form an opinion accordingly.

There are also a lot of people on here who don't know the difference between posting negatives (which then are open for discussion) and bad mouthing or bashing a player.

Why is is so hard for people to understand that most of these kids are used to being coddled to an extent and constantly told how great they are. So when they see negative posts on a message board, or get negative tweets, yeah it DOES stick out in their mind and it DOES influence their decision. You may not like it, and it shouldn't really make a difference, but to a lot of these recruits it does make a difference.

There could be a thousand positive posts in a thread about a kid but that one negative one could be the one that sticks out in their mind. As an adult, that may not make any sense to you. But we aren't talking about adults.

And a lot of times the parents take as much or more offense than the recruits. And think about it, what parent wants to EVER see, hear or read anything bad about their kid??

Bottom line that I feel like is ridiculous to have to repeat sooooo much. If you have a negative opinion about a kid keeping your d@mn mouth shut can't possibly hurt a thing, but running your mouth can certainly hurt.

Come on, kids need to realize that we are nothing more than die hard fans that get emotional and rant about our teams. I mean after reading about what James Franklin said about Vonn Bell and tOSU, I want to go kick the crap out of him. That doesn't mean that I will risk going to jail to do so.

Apparently kids like Kamara don't realize that if Bama had had Dooley for a coach with our losing record for the last 3 years, that their fans would have been just as negative and probably a lot worse than we are. It's just human nature to b**ch when you're losing to every single decent team you play.

well dang.... i thought u loved me? lol:birgits_giggle:

and I've been telling y'all all along... KIDS Parents coaches from the university and high schools read all of the boards and advise accordingly.

I'm a little different because I like to judge folks for myself, BUT much of what was said about Jason gave me a certain type of feeling about how receptive you guys were to his recruitment and what it would mean for him to come here. It definitely had a factor.

I used to read other boards, and I'd flip out on them too before they knew who I was. Some fanbases who played the fence with Croomsters offer......"bashed" him... I tuned out..... With Vnation.... I luv y'all from the beginning. always had been excited about him coming.; and always cared about his recovery. It absolutely does matter what's being said about our children here.

At the end of the day.... he's just a player for you, but that's my child.

MZTerry,
I agree. I try not to post something I wouldn't say to someone in a sports bar if we were just talking about the Vols.

Quick question: Do I need to give you my email address to get what you were going to post about this last recruiting cycle? I was really interested in what you had to say, even if others were not. I understand if you're not going to either.

Thanks.

Thank You.
I respect all the kids that give their all for college football.
Jason is one of many, and from a fan perspective looking in on the recruiting process, I think many try to sway the kids. I honestly don't know what things stick ut to the kids, or their parents. As a parent myself, I can somewhat understand.
There is a % on any boards that just say negative things no matter what. Those are easy to understand that players and family don't like and stand out. The ones I cannot put my finger on arethe pepole saying a kid will not see the field @ school x .
All I know is I would not put my kid on a bus that 25% were screaming its going to crash again. I would put my kid on the bus that everyone is saying they are going to get there 1st. .. even if they had to wait on a seat.
These kids look to the fans to understand where the team is and where the fans think they are going.
I truely wish everyone with some sense would start reporting the negative posters. Eventually they will get banned. I am all for an alternate perspective, but there needs to be a limit on the flagship board of the Vols. If these comments are truly damaging the Vol program, students, ect. It really should be considered.
