'15 JUCO RB Alvin Kamara (UT commit 6/21/14)

The epic SEC Championship game between Alabama and Georgia is being replayed on the recruiting front yet again. The Tide and the Bulldogs have gone head to head over such top prospects at Malcolm Mitchell, Xzavier Dickson, Jordan Jenkins and Dillon Lee. Now the new battlefront is at Norcross (Ga.) High School.

Alabama and Georgia are the two finalists for the nation’s No. 32 prospect, running back Alvin Kamara.

Kamara could win poker tournaments with his complete lack of tells when it comes to discussing his top two choices. Usually this close to signing day, there is a conventional wisdom on where a coveted recruit may be leaning, but Kamara cannot be so easily assigned. He maintains that both schools are even and that his final decision will be heavily based on his official visits to each program.

“It'll be a clear winner once I take my visits,” Kamara said. “I didn't wait this long for no reason.”

Kamara waited until the final month but now he has set the dates for both schools. Each staff hoped to get the last word, and Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart specifically requested Kamara’s last visit be to the Tide. It appears now that Georgia will get the last visit, though.

“Next weekend I will be at Alabama and the weekend after that I will be at Georgia,” Kamara said. “Georgia will be the last one.”

Kamara said there was not a reason for his decision but rather more of a gut feeling.

“I just felt like Georgia should get the last one,” Kamara said. “I have just been thinking about it, and it was just one of those feeling -- that I should give Georgia the last visit.”

One of those schools is getting a heck of a player. Hate we were really never involved, but wish the kid success when not playing us.

AK is a special player and we missed out on a star but we will be ok! Good luck AK except against UT.

Now let's focus on 2 of the 3-Barber, Green and Ford then 2014-Hurd

Where's the love?

Good luck to him. He will be bored on football Saturdays for the next few years. Both schools are loaded with proven RBs and have stud recruits coming in.

UGA will have 5 RBs on the roster and Alabama will have 8 RBs.

Actually 7 since Lacy is going pro and maybe 6 if Fowler returns.

BTW TR, Lacy, and Yeldon all heard that same pitch from Rival coaches about how they would ride the pine and be bored. The one thing they all had in common is they all 3 saw the field as true freshman. Even Lacy did with both MI and TR there.

She never said Kamara was. Bradley was until the coaching change. Not quite sure what point you were making because there sure wasnt one that I could figure, but I damn sure have been wrong before.

I agree she never said AK was a sure bet here. I have not thought he was coming here for months. Just never bought into the "so your saying there is a chance" crowd. Yes, I was one of the people who said Bradley was not coming here quite a while ago when others swore he was. "His family is wearing orange at the game". When I said he was not coming, she posted a "lol :loco::crazy:". Take it how you will. I would have liked to had both kids in this class. I think Bradley, Campbell, Stewart, and Johnson were all takes from Hutch.

Valid point but seeing the field and and toting the rock is 2 different things. Most likely any FR RB is going to get many more carries at UT than at AL or GA. Under Dooley then no way but with CBJ loving to run the ball then definitely. That being said he probably ends up at AL or GA but sure Green, Kamara,Ford and a few others have got to compare the depth charts and realize its a no brainer from a touch's standpoint. But Bama can throw out the rings and be a huge recruiting tool.

Definitely would love to have landed him and the others, but not at the having to keep Dooley price. CBJ gets us in atleast a fighting chance with guys we wmay not have gotten under that last incompetent staff. Hate having to start over again but definitely like what this staff is trying to do. But mending fences definitely wont be easy.

I think we will see it paying off early in 2014. This staff has shown they can recruit and gets these kids to listen to what they have to say. Just not enough time in this class to pull many "shockers" IMO. Just have to fill the class and then focus on 2014 recruits.

I agree he could land other places besides UGA and UA and get a lot more carries and be the feature back. But I think some of these top tier kids are focusing on getting to the NFL and see a better path via the way UA does it vs others. Since MI, TR, Lacy, and Coffee(Sophmore in Saban's 1st yr) have all showed that they could see the field early with talent in front of them and with only 1 year as a starter still get drafted. Many of these kids are seeing it and saying not only will I make it but have plenty of years left in me once I get to the NFL.

Three things have made UA successful with RBs no matter the talent we have ahead of them when Saban recruits them. One run 1st offense, 2nd the starting RB(1 year only) gets drafted, with the exception of Saban's 1st year when Grant started, and three they are seeing these feature RBs who to get hurt like Lattimore go down. Now 4 years ago no way they could convince these kids this but no need to now because they all see it.

From that last article it sounds like UGA may be the team to beat now.

Obviously AK ignored the common sense that Mama Croom spoke to him about Bama & UGA.

He is considering 2 top 5 type teams. Hard to see anything wrong with the kids mindset. If your elite, you will play no matter what the depth chart looks like. Would love to have AK carrying the ball here. Can't knock him for going to a team who is playing for titles now.

Definitely agree. If we can somehow just land a few shockers I would consider it a great job by the staff on such a short time. If we can get any of Lawson, North, Green, Bell, Grace plus possibly guys like Ford, Blanchard,Kemp,Dobbs, and I'm sure I am missing others but we could potentially close top 15 which would be one helluva job done by the staff. Cant wait till NSD. Could be exciting, which we havent had in a few yrs.
