'15 JUCO RB Alvin Kamara (UT commit 6/21/14)

LB and specifically weak side LB is the biggest need.

I do not blame either the current or former staff but it does not appear to be going well. You recruit a different kind of player at OLB for the 3-4 and 4-3. Sapp and Brewer are two players on UT's roster right now that seem to have the right physical skills to play the weak side position. The Vols simply have not been recruiting those types of guys for the last couple of years.

FWIW, I think you could see some of UT's current safeties asked to gain 15 lbs and play LB instead of S. I don't really think the staff has a choice.

:eek:k:

Still waiting on anyone to tell me what one position of need is bigger. All I here is defensive players or OL. A group of players is not what I am looking for.

I think with UT's returning OL alot of RBs would be able gain yardage with the holes they should be able to create. But I think Lawson would be the #1 target on the board. Game changer in an area of need. He would allow AJ Johnson to be even more of a playmaker not to mention Lawson's ability to pass rush.

I think Foster has no true interest in UT(sorry call me out here) but if UT could land him he would that big of a get as well as Lawson.

Lawson and Foster will see the field wherever they end up as true freshman.

LB
DE
DT
WR

are all bigger needs at this time.

well be fine at WR dont worry ab that. id just say DL in general is our biggest need right now, a solid DL can also make the rest of the defense better, look at past NYG teams, and this years USCe team

I don't know why its so hard for him to see that RB is not our biggest need right now. Do I think we need an elite back or two? Hell yes. But if we are talking our biggest need, its not RB at this time. If we don't get Green, we still land a back that will get the job done.IMO

SN: TW, how hard is it to watch UNC right now?lol I hope Andrew Wiggins saves us. Long shot though

I will feel better if/when we land North

That will absolutely help, and IMO give us one of the best young WR cores in the country. Pig, Croom, Harris, North, Jenkins, Carter, Bowles, Dallas

All will be Sophomores or Freshman next year, and three of them are over 6'3" I personally think Croom and Pig are gonna ball out this year

I think Lane is going to break out this fall in Jones' system. I would not be surprised to see Neal do well too. At Cincy, his O was very good at creating lanes to run in. Neal seems to struggle with vision and reading holes... he does not struggle in foot races.

You can always come back after those guys have a good season and sell a "ready to play" '14 recruit on immediate playing time.

OL is also an area of need btw. Every likely starter next year will be draft eligible. I think there are 3 or 4 Sr's in the top 7 OL's. Richardson is almost sure to bolt with a good season.

Very, I have season tickets and it is frustrating. But I have never been a Roy Williams fan either. I really like McAdoo and wish we would go through him more. Heck if CRW would teach the team how to play perimeter defense we would win more games.

I also think the 2 big kids coming in next year from NC Meeks and Hicks will be huge, because it will allow McAdoo to get free more.

Now back to fb.

Seriously?????

Very detailed reasons were given that lawson and bell were ahead of green in terms of needs. Did you suffer from the VN Sickness of only reading what you wanted to??

Tennessee 12 36.2 475.9 23rd in the Nation Offense

Tennessee 12 35.7 471.3 108th in the Nation Defense

Hmm,think we should maybe concentrate on a defensive playmaker?????

Very true. I also believe the bolded would have been better if not for our Defense and some really crappy game time coaching. We were 23rd in nation.....having to play from behind way too often, but play calling hurt us there too. Upgrade the defense and actually make good offensive play calls. Top 10 Offense. JMOT.

You say that but all we really have are prospects for the most part. I think dallas can be solid and pig showed some flashes. The restvare projected to be good but nobody is proven. The more big time prospects we get at wr the more likely we find a couple that will make an impact.

I think Maybin's future position could depend on who we finish with...if we were to land Grace and miss on Bell then he stays at safety...but if we miss Grace and land Bell I could see the scenario you've described...

If we don't get either then I could still see him moving to OLB because it think we're in worse shape there than SS...

I think the dude will be an All-SEC type wherever he plays...but we definitely need OLBs that fit the 4-3

I know we don't see eye to eye, but I agree with Foster coming is just to use an official. I think that's why the staff is leaning on Levenberry so hard.

And Lawson is the biggest need in that UT doesn't have a true pass rusher which is what left the secondary so exposed, that and playing man coverage. If UT scores a solid RB Green or Kemp, I would deem that a success. We have Lane for 2 more years, and just need a 3rd option this year to spell him and Neal. 2014 CBJ needs to get 2 or 3 backs for sure.

A pass rushing DE is the most important position to improve upon. This position will improve not only the DL but also the secondary. Having our young set of DB's to cover 1-2 seconds less can make them look much better on the TV screen.
