'15 JUCO RB Alvin Kamara (UT commit 6/21/14)

Where did u see that we have a legit chance with him? Just curious bc I missed it.

If you're a 17 year old athlete, you don't spend hours on a Friday night with a group of middle aged white men, when there are multiple parties being held in honor of your "all-star team", unless you're talking serious business.

Granted, that's my reading into the situation, but it seems like he's serious.

It's an unwritten rule on VN. We are ALWAYS in it with EVERY recruit until the pick another school. The recruit themselves can list his top 8 and if UT is not in it, "So your saying there is a chance"! It plays out every day on here. You just have to learn to read the articles yourself and come to your own conclusions.

Smokescreen?...just kidding, kinda

AK's frame also looked like he could carry a little more weight without any problem at the next level, allowing his game to soar to another level. Not that he's small, just a lean build, I mean that in a good way. I'm not as down on Green as you, but I do view AK as you do. Dude is graceful, a pleasure to watch.

Funny thing is AK is already close to 200lbs. Add 10-15lbs to him easily and he won't lose a step either with his lower body already being very big for his size. Boy is something serious. I've had him high on my RB list all year along with T.Dye.

They both have size but choose to use speed. They do not seek contact nor do they run hard most of the time. I have seen Kamara play live and on film. Kid has a serious chip on his shoulder runs hard without fear. I am not saying Bryce and Green are clones.

Good post.

Did there, I see what you did. You're arguing because Rivals still has UGA and Bama as his top two options that makes it such. Then again, Rivals had Da'Rick as a "Solid Verbal" to UGA up until 5 days prior to NSD.

Let's not beat around the bush, despite Rivals sluggish updating, Kamara to Tennessee is absolutely a realistic option, probably more so than a kid who's all but engaged to Brady Hoke.

I don't have a clue what Rivals says about him, but I know he's rarely if ever mentions UT in interviews.

Just watched his tape. Didn't realize just how special he is. He's gonna be a big time college player. Hope it's in orange! I know I'm not contributing anything that anyone doesn't know but I had underestimated him.

If I try to look at it objectively, Bama and UGA are both loaded at RB. Bama also has Jones and Tenpenny already committed. Unless they are going to play RB or some receiver, that's two RB Alvin will have to compete with from day 1. Not to mention Yeldon, who's a great RB in his own right.

UGA has Turman committed, but already has Gurley and Marshall as true sophomores on their roster. That's a crowded backfield as well.

UT has Lane and Neal. While both are solid backs, neither bring the same type of play-making ability that Alvin brings. He would have the opportunity to at least split time as a freshman behind one of the best O-lines in the nation.

Recruiting is almost never rational, but the way I see it, if he wants to play early and often, UT gives him the best opportunity to do this.

Logic and recruiting are like peanut butter and salmon. They just don't mix.

Everything you said was true, but when it comes down to it, is the 18 year old kid going to make the logical choice. The answer is and always has been- maybe.

Pretty sure we can all agree we need a RB. If it turns out to be AK or Green, we will all set off fireworks.

What are you talking about? I love Salmon and peanut butter :p

Just kidding, but you're right. There are plenty of cases where recruits pick schools based on seemingly insignificant factors like if it has a Chick fil a or not. We just can't predict what aspects are most pertinent to the recruit.

Absolutely. As far as RB goes, I would just like to see one of Green or Kamara commit. Hopefully we have that wild card with one of the two kids that makes them commit.

Recruiting is crazy. I've learned not to live and die by it or you'll go insane.

I feel like the only reason he wan't to go to either Bama or UGA is because they win all the time. We really need to get back to doing so or we will miss out on a lot of recruits.

Yeah me too. I was on board with Turman or Folston too. But yeah, we need Kamara or Green. I know it's been stated over and over, but it's so true. Dooley's inability to get a real solid SEC runningback hurt him. Although not hiring a RB coach for 2 years didn't help.

Recruiting is absolutely crazy. This time of year, it's best to sit back and relax and let the pieces fall where they may. Rumors and trolling posters pop up like crazy.

Exactly. These guys want to win. The pressure is on CBJ to get some good quality wins over teams we're not supposed to beat and fast. Look at ND's recruiting. It's taken off with their trip to the NC game.

That what I'm telling the people on VN. Its not always about "He can come here and play early." Sometimes its about winning and we haven't did that since 2007.

People here in little rock who are tuned into program are convinced that Bielma/Chaney are going to flip Tenpenny to Arkansas with Knile Davis' departure. I think I saw that he was taking an official to Ark this month.

With an OV anything can happen... We haven't seen how butch performs with kids on campus really yet. Maybe AK will realize he can be the man here and not another RB on the depth chart

Yeah, unfortunately we haven't won much at all since 07. That's 6 years ago. 6. Most of the recruits were like 12 or 13 at the time...

Maybe so. It would make things interesting that's for sure. I just don't see why a RB would want to be the feature back at Arkansas over Alabama. Isn't Saban one of those people who pulls offers if you take an OV somewhere else? Maybe I'm getting him mixed up with someone else.
