'15 JUCO RB Alvin Kamara (UT commit 6/21/14)

Marlin Lane is no slouch at all. A 4th year Lane is a really good player if he continues to progress. You guys act like he's going to just lay down for these young boys.

People forget that ideally, your talent and depth has players being major contributors when they are juniors, not true freshman/sophomores. He has plenty of time to show out

Are you serious? This kid isn't getting recruited over! Have you watched him play any?

he will be there 2 years before he has a chance to touch the ball and GA is known for pulling in stud 5* RBs all the time. in a year or 2 when gurley and marshal are about to leave they will get atleast one 5* stud probly more if they have 10+win seasons by continuing to avoid bama and LSU.

Kamara is on the level of any back in this class. He shouldn't be worried about a guy coming in overtaking him. Boy is a special player.

You think a 4th year Lane is better than 2nd year AK? I know there's no way to know for sure, but it seems like AK and DG would take over for Lane by their second year.

Lol. Futile effort I know since hall monitor has me on ignore, but based on what?

I dont agree he is on the same level as any back in this class but he is a good one no doubt.

Who's head and shoulders above him? I know he does one thing better than any other back in this class. And that's be a pass catcher. You add that to his breakaway speed and toughness what do you get?

OH, oh, oh.....me me me me me..... What is an RB that plays for UT that can catch a football and haul arse leaving defender in his dust heading to the end zone for a TD.

Did I answer correctly???

Derrick Green and we're not getting Kamara anyway. He's going to UGA.

He's no Todd Gurley.

You're right he's a completely different back than Gurley. Kamara is an offensive weapon though. And is a major mismatch in the passing game.

Comparing him to Green is Apples and Oranges. One is a speedy slasher with deceptive power and great pass catching ability. While the other is a punishing power back.

I'm talking more about his impact on a team than I am the style of runner he is. Kamara doesn't impact this team much year one. I can't see it anyway. Neal is still our best back. I can't say the same about Green.

Kamara's style of play fits good with our offense. His pass catching ability to go along with his already 198-200lb frame is a great fit for our offense. Plus he just explodes through a hole. His film on Rivals is much more impressive than the youtube stuff.

Anyway this is all for naught. He won't come here.

You get what marlin lane And R. Neal where suppost to be. And Green is a better back fo-sho imo Being in the south we will always be able to recruit speedy RBs that can catch the ball, but Green is a bruiser we haven't had since Hardesty. I want Kamara but i feel like theres about 5 or 6 guys like him in every class. There are other things that determine how good a RB is but the ones that can't be taught are the most important. Most good backs specialize in power, speed, or aren't great in either but are good all around. And the Elite have great power and speed. Most of the time an elite Running back has really good speed and above average power.
But in Greens case he has amazing power and just above average speed.

Lane was a top 100 player before his injury in high school. By now he is as healed as he will get. He has break away speed average power and can catch and Neal is the same thing. i don't see how kamara will be any different. I am ready for a back that runs through or falls forward after ending the life of the person who tried to tackle him to high.

Lane will be a junior so we need to reload with a similar back. Kamara is like Clemson's Ellington to me personally.

Also Kamara is bigger than most backs with his style. He's already right around 200lbs. Nothing for him to be 210lbs come the start of his freshman year.

Kamara compares well to Neal, IMO. Both have similar measurables---Kamara 5'10" 195 Neal 5'10" 210, and rated 5.8 (RR) at this stage. Both are capable pass catchers out of the backfield, Neal edges Kamara in pure speed but both are elusive and have the ability to take it to the house once past the LOS. He'd be a great compliment 'back to DG.

I think Oku thought the same thing, but lost his, speed, quickness and scholarship. Not many people can put on 10-15 pounds and it not effect their speed.

Kamara carries a lot of his weight in his lower body. Plus putting on a lean 10 pounds will most likely happen naturally.

This is exactly what I would be selling him on, especially if Neal continues to play well. I'm really hoping this is the reason we seem to be slow-playing Turman a bit. Possibly holding out for Green and/or Kamara.

SIAP - Interesting thinking about AK from Rivals analyst. IMO, Kamara would be nuts to consider Alabama if he sees Tendimes and Jones go elsewhere. Looks to me like Vols should be his first choice.

"I wonder if athlete Derrick Henry's commitment to Alabama will have an impact on fellow 'Bama pledges Altee Tenpenny and Tyren Jones. Tenpenny has tripped to Arkansas already and reports have Georgia recruit Brandon Kublanow in the ear of Jones to flip to the 'Dawgs. If one of those scenarios happen, do the 'Tide turn up the heat on running back Alvin Kamara? This should be an interesting situation to watch as the season progresses."
