regarding message boards posts and whether or not recruits care, there is a reason a guy like bob redman from fightingator goes around and creates screenshots of board posts that are negative against rival schools and shares them with recruits. if it didn't matter you wouldn't see them doing that.

It happens on every message board for every team. It just so happens that Volnation.com is one of the best message boards on the internet so it attracts many fans.

It's just a reflection of our society. A few bad apples making a lot of noise. They don't speak for everyone.

You are always going to have 'those fans' that are going to 'make sure it matters' if you know what I mean..

That being said, I agree with what you are saying.. However, like it or not, these things are going to be discussed here but there are ways to do it without name calling and crucifying people here for all to see.. Even something as sensitive as wanting a new coach.. Why do it?

And it is downright retarded to do it to recruits, at anytime during the process..

I have been guilty of this on two occasions where recruits lied to our coaches up until NSD and then went back on their word.. Although I still have and always will have a problem with this, looking back, I should NOT have done it. It served no purpose..

I can go with that to an extent but you just don't see the crap on most sites you do here. Maybe the closest is one of the LSU sites.

The problem is UT fans are sitting on years of pent up emotions and get ugly in a hurry

Yeah, & people like him should be clubbed like a baby seal. It's a coaches job to recruit. Ive never seen nor heard of a message board of choirboys & girls. If a kid decides on a school based on a message board comprised of the uninformed masses, he's getting horrible advice.

I completely agree with you on it's a coaches job to recruit, but unfortunately you have too many site operators are recruiting for the school they cover. jason higdon from fightingators is a prime example of that. you have a bigtime gator fan running that site and you have a guy who was on ron zook's staff in bob redman as well. they have a vested interest in helping the team they root for as well as cover be successful in bringing in recruits.

i can't blame a kid for getting upset when he sees message board posts that put him down, his family down, or are constantly trashing the coaching staff . it's only human nature and you have too many fans who sit behind a keyboard who have all of the answers and are very loud in expressing their views. this is one of the most important decisions in a player's life so you can expect they will take it all in.

I agree with the personal attacks on a kid and his family. They are out of bounds and foolish. Like Henry today. I don't understand the logic in his decision, but it is his decision, and once the announcement is made move on to the next guy that is uncommitted. Let the coaches worry about how they will handle the continuation of a committed kids recruitment.

As far as bashing the coaches, all fans do this. I would imagine when UGAs defense looked like swiss cheese a couple of years ago and those top 10 recruiting classes were being reflected with lackluster on the field results the UGA message boards probably weren't so kind either. Kids being recruited should realize that fanbases expect on the field performance or the fanbases will tend to sour on coaches. Kids need to also realize there are idiots in every fanbase, and a handful of morons aren't a reflection of the entire group.

Completely agree with you on the personal attacks. Regardless of who we root for as fans it is the player's personal decision to make and i don't see any reason for a fan to go after a recruit for not picking their program. We might be disappointed, but ultimately i think keeping a balanced view is important.

I wasn't really referring to one fan base when I talked about trashing coaches. We both knows it happens on many boards regardless of team affiliation.

That's interesting. Didn't realize that was a legitimate recruiting tactic. But not surprising. This is a generation of kids that grew up with the Internet so I guess this has more influence with them.

I'm not sure about this now. A lot of chatter is going around with him. Brice Ramsey is going to recruit him very hard while he's in Athens. If AK makes it through the weekend without committing to UGA, I think thats very positive for UT. :twocents:

It's a facetious joke. Don't take it too hard . It's not derogatory towards you or your passion for UT. I'm simply trying to poke fun at those who believed your influence and consistent participation on this message board would give us an advantage . I wouldn't expect Alvin to sign here for multiple reasons. Go vols.
