'15 JUCO RB Alvin Kamara (UT commit 6/21/14)

Kids mirror those they respect. MzT treats him like a son and sees value in the young man. Put him in a high character program with high character leaders and you might be amazed at what he will accomplish.

A very wise mentor of mine used to say: "hold the crown above someone's head and watch them grow into it." Expect more...

He might have had credits going in, i'm sure a school like Norcross offers plenty, obviously I have no idea what his class schedule was, but could be a possibility.

Did he enroll early at Bama? just trying to figure out math for AA degree(62-66 hrs).

No need to figure out the math. MzT already said she is 110% sure that he will graduate in December and be an EE for the 2015 class.

Im not knocking her info but the bamma writer has implied AK had some classroom issues there. If thats the case and not EE could put him behind the 8ball unless he plans to take an overload. He also has to worry about extra SEC math class. Again just trying to play with numbers.

Bama Writer was promised a free suit if he could report a legitimate reason for his defection, other than Saban is a lying little baby.

If he has his academic act together to where he can EE, then I back off the 'pass him by mode'. That would have to be a certainty though. Butch would vet any character issues as part of his analysis. It has been rightly pointed out by CWG and others previously that Dools probably effed this up. There has never been a doubt of his fit in this offense in my mind. I had some doubts of his fit in Chaney's.

Understand, but I will roll with MzT's info on this one over any writer, especially a Bama one. She is "kind of close" to the situation. Also, I don't believe that he has to graduate from the JUCO he attends. I thought only players who go to a JUCO school have to graduate, if they go there because of the grades problem. He is not going there because of a grades issue. I believe this is why the number of credits do not matter in his case. You can certainly correct me if I am wrong.

With AK and Croom being close Im sure MZT info is pretty solid. On the degree vs credit thing Im not 100% but iirc the SEC requires an AA degree once a player enrolls in juco. I believe only the SEC and ACC have certain reqirements for juco players.

I'm not positive but I think that only applies if they are non qualifying out of hs. If they transfer because they don't like the school they are at it's just sitting out 1 year for FBS and 0 if division 2.

thats was the way I understood the rule but Luke said Tyler Moore left Neb with a 3.2 gpa but had to get his AA to enroll in SEC school. who knows. EE or not AK is a kid you want on your roster. Give a damn what them cousin lovers say.

Believe it or not, me being ALLVOL, my best friend is a Bama fan, but one of the very few level headed ones. His family has some ties to the program and we had discussed this situation when AK first left Bama. My friend was told that AK continued to get in Sabans dog house is why he didn't get more PT. They really wanted him to be a big part, but he kept shooting hisself in his own feet. Of course, only reporting what I was told, but coming from a very reliable source. TIFWIW

I know for a fact that if they go the JUCO route without having a grades issue, for instance, they go there because they were not recruited out of high school, then they do not have to have a degree. The example of this is Jonathon Johnson who is on our team, and enrolled fall 2013 without a degree. He had only been in JUCO one year.

Yeah he kept screwing up and then the negative recruiting was the final draw. Drake is another one that had been in the doghouse but not as much. Main reason why he didn't get more carries in certain games

Here is a breakdown of the rule for a 4-2-4 transfer.

Division I

4-2-4 transfers in Division I must meet the following academic requirements to be eligible to compete immediately after transferring to the second four-year school:
◾Complete an average of 12 hours of transferable degree credit per term of full-time attendance at the junior college;
◾Earn at least a 2.000 GPA in those transferrable courses;
◾Have at least one calendar year elapse since leaving the original four-year school; and
◾Graduate from the junior college.

14.5.6.4 Transfer Prior to Completion of Requirements. All transfer requirements set forth in Bylaw 14.5.6, except the calendar-year time-lapse requirement (see Bylaw 14.5.6.3), must be met prior to the student athlete’s transfer to the certifying institution. Thus, if a student-athlete transfers from a four-year institution to a two-year college and, prior to completing the applicable transfer requirements, transfers to a member institution, the student-athlete shall be subject to the one-year residence requirement, even though during the course of that one-year residence at the certifying institution, the student-athlete may complete the necessary requirements.

He can transfer to any school he wants after December since he will be one year out. But to be eligible to compete immediately he does have to graduate from the JUCO. If not he would transfer in and would have to sit out a year. The question for AK and I do not know is if he is at the JUCO now. If so I assume he would be able to graduate next December. If IIRC he came in last summer. So he took courses at UA summer and fall, combine with a spring, summer, and fall at JUCO he would be on track to graduate.
