According to a FSU guy on another board I visit Jones is still planning to visit Tennessee, Bama, and South Carolina.

Too bad on FSU, but better them than an SEC rival.

What a difference a year makes. We are now concerned we may not have enough room to take an elite JUCO DT. Probably been 6+ years since anyone said that about Tennessee.

Ive been saying i didnt think we would land DJ, just had that feeling. Richmond was the other one, really hope I'm wrong on that one. Seems to be trending to the good guys though.

Hopefully, DJ stays out of the SEC in the end.

Jones is a one and done. You're not going to get Tuttle and Jones in the same class with Mckenzie already in the fold. You can't promise Tuttle early playing time with Jones in the rotation, and Tuttle wouldn't come here for the fact that UT would have 2 highly rated defensive tackles already committed. You have to make a choice. The coaches took 3 years over 1.

The coaches stopped recruiting hard, that came straight from people close to Dj Jones. It wasn't because of grades and it wasn't because of talent.

That came straight from Fortenberry when he talked to people close to Dj Jones. The staff stopped recruiting him hard, this is around the same time UT got momentum with Tuttle.

Dj Jones is a much better fit for a team already loaded like FSU or Bama. They don't need depth. He is a one and done and he will not add depth because he will more than likely be a Patterson.

Yeah, I was just making a joke as to so many folks jumping on me when I say the coaches will pass on or slow play kids who do not really fit what they look for in their recruiting profile. *'s don't really matter either. I have no doubt several of the highly rated kids a lot of the fans still have in their "we will make room for them" lists are not even really in play for the Vols. DJ is just 1 example.
