'15 JuCo DT David "DJ" Jones

It's not really a debate. Today there is 16 spots. 6 more kids leave and they can take 22. 3 more leave and the class will be 19. It's pretty simple.

This seems to be in every thread, so I will just pick this one. A kid doesn't have to leave, they can pull a scholarship and the kid can walk on. Just the opposite of what just happened to Gilliam and Swafford.

That said I am not sure if anyone needs a daily reminder in June of how many kids we can take in February.

The "before Aug 2015" is the questionable thing here IMO. The staff did not risk it last year and turned away some very good talent late. They only took the # of kids they knew that day(NSD) they had room for. I'll be curious to see if they do over sign like some feel they will so they can take more kids on NSD this year. If they do, then going forward we know it's a possibility.

I'm not sure the 85 number was the limiting factor last signing class.

Yeah I think the stench of dead horse is in just about every recruiting thread.

That is true but the staff gave Gilliam and Swafford a scholly which got the scholly count closer to the 85 limit.

But Gilliam is a senior so his will open up after this year. Because we weren't at 85, it allowed CBJ to give Gilliam one.

"Not expected to decide soon, the country’s top-rated JUCO defensive [tackle, according to 247Sports, is] D.J. Jones, [who] named the Vols his leader this week. South Carolina remains the Crystal Ball favorite for the 6-foot-2, 310-pound Jones, but Tennessee has gained traction. The Gamecocks have 58 percent of the Crystal Ball forecasts while Tennessee checks in with 33 percent of the 12 predictions." (247Sports Crystal Ball Trends In The SEC).

Doug Mathews has repeatedly said we will take up to 25 with 23 being the hard number right now & the other 2 spots depending on what happens this summer.

Id guess Doug Mathews has been sniffin glue. The "hard number" can't be 23 right now unless Mr. Mathews is holding the paperwork for 7 kids fixing to walk out of being a Vol.

Yup, I said sniffin glue.

We could definitely argue that there is 7 players we can upgrade with the way we are recruiting
