'15 IN LB Darrin Kirkland Jr (UT Commit 12/15/14)

What makes everyone think he is a Vol lock? When I read this and see he moved up his announcement accordingly, plus the relationship w Newsome it worries the hell out of me! Would hate to lose either of them to the other TU.

Yeah I mean the kid changes his date right after a visit from Strong? Might be trying to commit before other Linebackers commit to the horns. Hope I'm wrong

Hearing from a variety of analysts who are normally reserved like Hubbs, P Fort, and Callahan who all feel we are in good shape. Couple that with the Vols coming in 2nd to Michigan when he originally committed. And the fact he contacted our coaches about visiting. Generally that means a kid is wanting in. Oh and Tommy Thigpen was on the case. I expect good news on the 15th.

Per Hubbs

It was an interesting Thursday on the recruiting front with Darrin Kirkland Jr. announced he was moving up his decision to Monday instead of waiting for the Army All-American Bowl on Jan. 3.

Despite his good reviews of Texas the week before we continue to believe Tennessee is very much the team to beat in this situation. Steve Stripling was in Indianapolis earlier this week to see Kirkland and like we said, the vibe around Kirkland continues to be the Vols are in a very good position heading into any announcement.

Great news, but I'm kind of worried that this might be to offset some bad news...like Amadi and Phillips announcing for someone besides UT on Monday, or maybe even Monday is when news that some of these FR who are rumored to be transferring will be released. I think Butch is going to throw a huge boom commitment on Volnation to keep positive momentum, after we are let down with some bad news first. Sure hope I'm wrong, and we have double or triple booms Monday.

Better he does it now IMO. While the announcement at the AA game is nice, the kid already in the boat is better IMO. Sooner the kid declares, the sooner UT can consider MLB good to go.

This has been over since the kid took his trip to Knoxville a while back. I said I thought he would leave a silent commit and I believe he did leave a silent commit. All posts by Hubbs etc talk about UT having the momentum, being in a good spot, etc. We also haven't seen any other MLB prospects pop up with offers since the Kirkland visit. Done deal IMHO.

I was leaning that way as well. I was curious to see what he did with those last 2 OV's and if he made the trips. He went to TX and shut it down afterward. I think he's a Vol. If he's not, UT and Cherry will be disappointed. :)

Do you think Butch concerns himself with the subjectively perceived "momentum" from an extremely fickle fanbase? No.

That's why he makes millions, and we make messes.
