'15 GA WR Preston Williams (UT Signee 2/4/15)

We have roughly the same number of players we've always had.

It's more a function of the "single digit" phenomenon.

Kids love the single digit numbers, it's considered a prestigious honor to be awarded one.

That's why you see 1 on defense, and 1 on offense for each.

1 - Hurd & KMac
2 - Pig & Tuttle
3 - Malone & TBD
4 - TBD & Lewis
5 - TBD & Phillips
6 - Kamara & TKjr
7 - Preston & Gaulden
8 - North & TBD
9 - Von & Barnett

Hendrix was #8, Wharton was #4, new kids will get those #'s now, along with the 3 & 5.

Need pic of Pig and Tut side by side

Martin will be wearing 8 on D.

John Kelly will prolly be #4

North was the focus of a lot of double-teams. Tennessee's opponents tried to take him away. They succeeded for most of the season.

This still doesn't answer my question of how many times he was targeted, though.

It's hard to fault a receiver for only having 3 catches when he's only thrown at 3 times. If he's targeted 6 times, that's another thing.

Given all the info KB has about that ge, I'm guessing he knows or can find out. Might be it he answer doesn't fit his narrative though.

I wouldn't be too quick to hand out the # 3, 4, & 5 to the remainder of the '15 class.

Remember, we still have some serious studs hopefully coming in the '16 class:

Nigel Warrior
Mecole Hardman
Marquill Osborne
Jarrett Guarantano

To get the information last time, I sat down for 30 minutes during my lunch hour, pulled up the Georgia game on YouTube and fast forwarded to all of Tennessee's offensive plays and "charted" the pass plays while Worley was in the game. Don't have the information at my fingertips. I'll try and find time today at lunch to go through the game again.

Hats off to you. If I had the means to (currently am limited to cellular data when it comes to Internet...and I don't get enough to watch whole football games on YouTube), I'd do the work myself as I've been under the impression for a while that one of Bajakian's flaws as an OC was not "feeding" our most talented players the ball quite enough.

I could well be wrong though and the facts may not fit my hypothesis. I'm just not really capable of researching the answers.

I'm encouraged that P Willy has done everything asked of him academically and physically for his rehab. He may have that want-to that makes him one of the greats.

No worries. I'll gladly take a look at it and report back. In the grand scheme of things I probably am laying too much blame at Z's feet. You and others had made good points regarding the numerous factors at play that likely hindered our WR performance each of the last two years. Anywho, I'll take a look and get back with you.

Alright brother, got to it earlier than I thought I could. Here's what I came up with for all our receivers, both targets and catches...

Wolf- 6 targets, 5 catches
North- 6 targets, 3 catches
Malone- 10 targets, 5 catches
Pig- 7 targets, 4 catches
Young- 1 target, 1 catch
Johnson- 1 target, 1 catch
Lane- 1 target, no catches
Croom- 5 targets, 4 catches
Hurd- 3 targets, 3 catches
Helm- 3 targets, 1 catch (in fairness to Helm, one of his targets was when Peterman was in and well, it was, I don't know, not fair to Helm to say he was "targeted"...I'll leave it at that)

Couple of side notes: Hurd's a freakin beast when he gets just a smidge of room to get going....Worley was just outstanding throwing the ball in this game...poor Nathan Peterman just took a beating, in large part because he held onto the ball too long where Worley was quick and confident with his releases/throws.

Great analysis! North double teamed any?

Good stuff...thanks. :hi:

I'm guessing he was at times, just hard to say because of the angles, couldn't see any endzone shots. Perhaps them sliding coverages over to North is why Malone had so many targets.

I'd be willing to bet this is an accurate statement.

Well there goes my theory! I didn't realize that Malone and North only caught half of what was thrown at them that game. Wow.

That's impressive following ACL surgery only 5-6 months ago. Looked like he was running at about 75-85% and good to see him planting on the knee as well in his cuts, albeit rounded off.
