'15 GA WR Preston Williams (UT Signee 2/4/15)

"No, I don't think the writing is on the wall that Williams is going elsewhere. As Talon said, Williams is just the type of recruit who's going to make Tennessee fans nervous for the next 8-10 months. Will he end up sticking with the Vols? Who knows? But I think there's certainly a chance he will."

LOL

We should all just stay out of this thread and PW's recruitment, it's going to be a wild roller coaster until next Feb and I'm betting he doesn't sign with UT.

Of course we won't though :)
It's going to be hard to keep or sway any 5* recruit coming off 3 years of 5-7 records. We are going to have to really flip the script this year, in order to keep the momentum in recruiting. I think we have the weapons, offensively to do it. And on defense, LB and the secondary should be strengths, rather than weaknesses.

What will make or break us is the OL and DL.

I wonder if there is a WR out there UT is taking a serious look at that could take Preston's spot IF he continues to shop himself around?

Now I'll duck.

The best thing fans can do is:

1. If you tweet, show that love, and don't go "crazy ex-girlfriend", in any situation... Ever

2. In this thread. Don't go "crazy ex-girlfriend" with every visit and quote he takes and makes.

Continue to show the attributes that make this a fan base people want to play for. Passion and class

Then I will aim lower.

:) Good one.

It's something I think coaches have to figure out at times in recruiting.

Example: UT has Preston Williams and Jaylond Woods committed as WRs. UT can take 2, and MAYBE 3 if enough spots become available closer to NSD. Jaylond is a slot guy and 100% showing he is committed. CBJ is informed Van Jefferson, Tyron Johnson, and Alex Ofodile have all told a UT coach they would like to be a Vol and are ready to shut their recruitment down today. As a coach, do you hope to hold onto Preston and ride it out, or do you take the kid who is ready to shut it down now?

Both and don't take a TE

So you would tell 2 of Van Jefferson, Tyron Johnson and Alex Ofodile there is no room for them and hope to keep Preston?

Gutsy.

Tyron Johnson is a take ALL day. Ofodile is heading to Mizzou, IMO. Van would be a tough call. We have a much better chance of landing Van than Tyron. However, Tyron seems like he's very interested.

I feel that all 3 would likely end up elsewhere. I was just tossing out a scenario where I think the coaches would seriously have to consider giving Williams spot to someone else. When a kid is shopping himself around as much as Preston is after committing, I'm not a fan of just sitting back and HOPING he sticks come NSD IF there are other quality options available.

No I tell all 3 yes.

Interesting.

Butch said 18-22. I would think 20 is middle ground obviously.

QB-1
RB-1
WR-5(full)
TE-0(You said you would pass on a TE).
OL-4(1 spot left)
DT-2
DE-3(2 spots left)
LB-3(1 spot left).
CB-2
S-1
LS-1(full)

That total is 23. Where would you cut 3 guys from so that you could take the 3 extra WRs?

Cut woods, long snapper, and a LB. We only need two of those this year. We already have Bates, Bryant, Johnson, and El. Berry. 6 in 2 years is perfect.

I'd start telling guys like Peterman to pack it up and go. It's a tough decision Butch has to make.

If Woods and Lovingood don't take trips, I doubt CBJ forces them out. Especially with them both being instate kids. Pretty early offers and commitments from both make me think the coaches like what they have in both of them.
