Wait what? I thought he was here recruiting for the tide on his visit? Now UT is up there with Bama?

That was reported by a random message board poster. I mean it could've been true but some are taking it like it was undeniable fact. There are sooooo many variables that could affect how accurate that statement is.

“I mean, it’s a lot of folks that have committed (to Tennessee) for a reason. I don’t know. I like the school a little bit,” Brown said.

“I mean, Coach Strip’ (Vols defensive line coach Steve Stripling) is a good coach. That’s what I like about the school. They’re definitely in the top five.”

“I mean, I’ve still got two years left, so anything can happen, I feel like,” he said. “I’m committed to them. I’m just trying to have a backup, just in case that don’t work out.”

He said he still likes Alabama because “just everything is great” there.

“All the coaches are good,” Brown said. “Coach (Nick) Saban is a great guy. It’s a very family atmosphere up there. It’s a very good school. It fits me.”

Still, Brown said he enjoyed spending time with Tennessee’s coaches while he was in Knoxville last month. He said he talked with defensive graduate assistant Larry Knight, defensive coordinator John Jancek, Stripling and linebackers coach Tommy Thigpen, who’s serving as Brown’s primary recruiter for the Vols.

“They’re just like, ‘Make the best decision,’” Brown said. “They love me up here — all of them.”

He said he also got to catch-up with former Carver teammate Riyahd Jones. He said that Jones was telling him that he loves it at UT, and he has been doing very well since getting to UT.

I also thought this was intereting:

He also said his opinion of Tennessee wasn’t negatively affected by the departure of another of his former Carver teammates, former Vols cornerback Deion Bonner, earlier this year. Bonner left Tennessee in January after he was indefinitely suspended last season for an undisclosed violation of team rules.

Bonner and Jones “are two totally different people,” Brown said, and he said he’s not bothered by the fact that Bonner ended up leaving Tennessee.

“Deion made those decisions on his own,” Brown said.

Interesting. Jones graduated high school before Brown even started high school. Either way, if they are close that can't be a bad thing.
