Average passing superior athletic ability.

Ehh, he did throw for over 8000 yards and almost 100 TDs in less than 3 years as a starter in HS. Did great at the elite 11 even with a broken thumb. Won multiple HS titles. As a passer, he was better than average IMO. Just did not click well at UT.

That's why Butch Jones recruited Quinten Dormady.

Completely irrelevant based on the premise of my question to Leb who was perfectly fine only taking Jennings. It was only after Ferguson left that he was okay taking two guys on 2015. My point was that after passing in 2014, the plan should have always been to take two in 2015, regardless of Ferguson's eventual transfer. Especially if the first to commit was as raw as Jennings.

Dobbs
Ferguson
Peterman
Jennings

IMO would have been fine. Adding a 2nd QB at that point to the 2015 class would not have helped with your point of "no proven QBs". Taking another "unproven QB" would not have done much in that aspect.

Ferguson moves on, and we add Dormady. Also sets us up with at least a chance to get a 2016 kid. That will give us 5 QBs on scholarship headed into 2016. IMO we would be fine. IF Peterman would decide to transfer, or Dobbs left early, or JJ moves to S, then you look at taking 2 in 2016.

If Dobbs left "early", it would be good knews for the state of UT football. I am assuming you are referring to him leaving early for the NFL Draft?

He's not leaving without his degree and that degree will not be completed in less than 4 years. It's a 5-year program for most.

I do agree with this, but I also wonder...

He is obviously smart enough to get an academic scholarship. If academics are more important, why didn't he take the ac. scholarship and walk-on to the team?

It seems that fb is more important to him, at least at the moment. If he can make immediate $$ in the pros, I'm not so sure he would skip the opportunity. He could always return for a year of college and finish his degree after his NFL career.

Are you seriously proposing that Dobbs will leave early to enter the NFL draft? Not sure what skill set you saw in his play last year that would translate to NFL success? Might ought to wait until he at least becomes a starter on his college team before this type of talk? :loco:

Could be wrong but full-ride academic scholarships usually come with additional academic requirements and obligations that would hinder his pursuit of football, especially as a QB in the SEC.

Ryan Callahan said today we won't take a 3rd QB.

I didn't realize I said he had the talent to leave early...

Let me clarify; IF he has the opportunity, I'm not sure he would pass it up.

So those who say TG is an ath, because that's what he's listed as, are now using a quote about QBs to suggest TG won't be a Vol?

Which is it? Is he an athlete or a QB?
