Domino effect: Quinten Dormady, Blake Barnett cause movement

From 247
Tennessee – Tennessee can breathe a big sigh of relief with the commitment of Dormady on Monday night. For a program in desperate need of depth at the quarterback position, Tennessee was running out of options for elite passers in the 2015 cycle. The only negative to that Dormady commitment is that it hurts the Vols in their Torrance Gibson hunt. Auburn could be slowly taking the edge for the athletic lefty.

So yes we took him. We better had before we didn't get a qb at all. But we are still recruiting TG and QD commit could be a negative because of that. If QD was better it wouldn't be a negative nor would we be still trying to pull TG.

So like I have been saying of course we took him we needed a for sure good qb. BUT TG is elite and we are still after him hard. So win, win. We take a good qb to be sure we have one. The we continue to recruit the truly elite top guy who we may or may not get.

There's no negative in getting the commitment of an elite QB like Dormady. Bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush. If TG eventually commits then great, we have 1 very polished QB who can make all the throws and 2 phenomenal athletes who could possibly develop into outstanding dual threat QBs. If he doesn't, we still have an elite passer in QD and a possible outstanding DT QB in Jennings.

Gibson said, after spending 5-days in Knoxville, the Vols have made a big impression. "It's getting tougher, because I don't want to pick the wrong school. Tennessee is in the lead right now, no doubt about it. I spent a couple of days up here, I feel comfortable with all the coaches, the campus. I know my way around town now. It (Tennessee) has more than a little bit of a lead."

He said that spending several days in Knoxville really gave him a true picture of what it would be like to go to Tennessee. "It helped me get a feel for the team, the coaches, get comfortable with the coaches, the team, everyone. I'm learning the campus now. I know the whole campus now. It was a great experience."

"I saw everything, I saw the campus again. I saw all the coaches, the players, the faculty, just everything. It's getting better and better every time I go there." He said the comfort level with the coaches continues to grow. "We really didn't talk about football that much, we just hung out.... The connection is great, I feel comfortable with them, they feel comfortable with me. We're just moving forward."

He was sure to mention the great bbq he had in Knoxville.

He's not sure what's next as far as visits, but he plans on definitely returning to Knoxville this month. ~

I wouldn't mind having TG at receiver and having him in a Hines Ward role. He could take the ball on end arounds throw it, pitch it or run it. There would be no telling the plays we could come up with.

For everyone that can't make out what's real in this thread:

1. Gibson visited UT for four days this week.
2. We now lead "more than slightly" over AU.
3. We are recruiting Gibson as a football player that can play wherever the heck he wants.
4. Butch Jones is a BAMF.

Carry on.

Excellent! :good!:

Torrance Gibson, the nation's No. 1 dual-treat QB, visited Tennessee from Sunday through Thursday. Auburn led for the five-star recruit going into his visit. "I spent a lot of time with the (Tennessee) coaches and their families," Gibson first told 247Sports.com following his visit. "Tennessee is definitely in the lead now. Auburn is two and LSU is three."

I agree with all you said except I think TG can make every throw Dormady can already. I just didn't know why people are acting like we weren't recruiting him or that it would be bad to sign him.

What "news"?...that we "lead"? "A little bit more than slightly" over Auburn? Commits are news...until then WE'RE 1A AGAIN!!! :yahoo: Gonna be the best Christmas?....New Years?....

valentinesdayever??? :dunno:

Na, just suggesting only a handful of guys seem to have a problem with Gibson coming here. Most everyone else wants talented players to commit so UT can start winning football games again.

That sounds really improbable, but in the small chance it's true... that has to be hands down the biggest Butch Stones moment of all time.
