What's the point? Unless Gruden is going to stay an extra day... It's like vacationing to New Orleans the week after Mardi gras. Sure it can still be fun but you missed the greatest part.

So he was coming Friday and could not get a ride. Saturday he is coming and a couple random dudes from Chattanooga are making the trip to SFL to get the kid to campus. Apparently TG does not have any friends in his area of the country, or at least it looks that way. Meanwhile you have Dormady making a surprise visit to campus and he continues to extend his visit. Maybe he is waiting for TG to get there so they can throw vs each other? If TG keeps stalling, at some point Dormady will have to head home. Maybe then we will see TG show up with a big smile like, "I'm here"! So what if it's Wednesday. :eek:lol:

Ask insider Tux about Josh Malone

What would you like to know? I am an old friend of his family's and his private WR coach Brent Alexander

Obviously that bothered the psycho element of our fan base.

Yeah...spending a day with Gruden is the only reason for a recruit to visit Knoxville. I don't know how Butch managed to get any commitments before this weekend.

I think it's more the kid made sure to make it to AU's big recruiting event/weekend. UT's? Yeah, not so much. If I am a QB and a school that I am seriously considering is holding a big "QB event camp", I'd probably circle the date on my calendar. Maybe that's just me.

If he is making it at all this weekend, it was obviously an event he wanted to make. The most reasonable assumption to make is that things fell through when it came to making it earlier.

But, regardless, I don't care whether a recruit wants to come more when Gruden is here or when Gruden is not. I'd rather just have them come in the first place. Heck, I'd probably rather them come when Gruden isn't here. It shows that the interest is more on us than on the show.

And missing the event doesn't mean anything. It's a show, no more and no less. We know what we need to know about Gibson already, and a few hours with Gruden isn't going to make him any better.

Maybe. Looks like a lot of other QBs felt it was worth the trip and it mattered to them.

And Mardi Gras is the only reason to go to New Orleans? Try to be a little more intuitive because that wasn't my point.

If my QB stock was falling and I wasn't wanting to do anything to jeopardize my recruitment as a QB (at UT or AU), I might avoid hanging out with other QBs and a coach known for analyzing QBs at a camp dedicated to pointing out what QB skills needed improvement. I might even go so far as to drag my feet a bit to make sure I wasn't around when said event was occurring. Obviously we have zero insight into the real motivations of another person, so I would never offer judgment on the basis of pure speculation, but I could certainly build the case why he might feel it was in his best interest to avoid camp...

Maybe he didn't want Gruden evaluating his WR..err QB skillset? :dunno:

If he shows up, then I think it is exactly this. I am beginning to wonder if its more not wanting to perform as a QB at a camp setting than it is not wanting to come to UT. Was going to read thru everything before posting anything but you read my mail on this one. I am beginning to wonder where he is confidence wise as a QB. Especially if his HS coach is thinking about moving him for what is better for the team.

It's a show? You're kidding right? A camp with a guy who has his own special on Espn about QBs is not just a show. It's an opportunity to learn at an elite level. A few hours with any top mind will make you better at your craft.

Then you wouldn't deserve to play QB in a big league college program.
