I could see 247 taking over the top spot(at least in my mind) within a year or 2. They have turned it into a pretty strong service pretty quickly.

Granted it does not really matter what service ranks a recruit compared to others. 1 thing I have learned in following UT recruiting is fans will always use the service who ranks the recruit higher for THAT recruit. If Rivals says a RB is a 4* and Scout says 5*, the kid is a 5* if he is a UT possibility. If 247 says a TE is a 4* and ESPN says 5*, then he is a clear cut 5* even though ESPN hates us. :)

Of course if the kid picks a school other than UT, it automatically reverts back to the lower ranking for the recruit.

Plays out that way all the time on here.

Conversely, it appears that if you don't like a recruit, you keep on quoting the one that has him lowest, even if there is now a composite ranking that takes all of the major services rankings into consideration. Pot, meet kettle.

So the thinking is pass on an elite QB in 2015 with the hope of signing one in 2016? Is there any guarantee that there is a QB in 2016 that matches TG's skill set?

His passing skill set? W/out a doubt. TG is a great runner but IMO it would be a it of overkill and points to why some think he would be better at WR. His few carries a game would not make up for his passing issues IMO.

Actually if you looked back or continue to follow my posts as I suspect you will, you would note I use Rivals rankings for just about everything. As I said, I think they do a better job.

You mean throw it into the ground at medium velocity. :)

IF CBJ intends to take him, I'd think there is a lot of reason to push for a commitment now. osu obviously decided not to wait. His "issues" may have other schools hesitant to move forward. Maybe CBJ tells him it's now or never. The coaches IF they intend to take him may wait to see how his "issues" play out before doing something.

I've not been a fan of taking him at all at this point due to the class size and Jennings already onboard. Waiting till NSD may let the coaches see how the class fills out and how many spots there actually are come Feb.

I agree with the first part of your statement, but I doubt there's little to worry about from a numbers standpoint. I think the staff showed a solid grasp when it comes to the logistics of spot count/numbers in the previous class, so surely it'll be dealt with. If anything, it's a good problem to have. I'd rather juggle numbers when it comes to having too much talent wanting to jump on board rather than having to scramble to fill spots on signing day.

Where is this lack of passing skill coming from?

His passing stats from 2013 are pretty good. 19 touchdowns to only 3 interceptions. 1,800 passing yards and 56 percent completion rate. His highlight reel shows a really strong arm too.

I think people have been sucked into thinking he's an athlete playing quarterback when in reality he has an above average skill set as a passer.

I am sure the staff has a solid grasp on the numbers they can take for now. I think them passing on Harrell and Johnson points to that. The crazy thing is up until the day those kids committed elsewhere, a lot of folks felt they were sure Vols. I am not saying UT won't take Gibson, but to claim they 100% would take his commitment today could prove to be more folks with egg on their face. Especially after his suspensions.

FTR - I agree. As a junior in HS still learning the position. But let the games kick in to a higher gear with the naysayers.

I don't have any interest in looking back through your posts as I rarely enjoy them when I come across them in various threads as is. I did see that you stated that you prefer Rivals right around the time you posted about TG's ranking and people choosing the service that best fits their wants at the time. I've never seen you state it anywhere else, so I guess I'll take your word for it you weren't doing the exact thing you were knocking those straw men over for doing. "Continue to follow my posts" lol. I've never followed your posts, and as mentioned, rarely enjoy them when I am unfortunate to run across them. You have a slightly inflated view of your importance if you think I'm following your posts. In fact, I've been here 4 or 5 years and have seen a lot of annoying posters, but your certain brand of negativity playing over and over like a broken record is enough to make you my first poster on ignore. :salute:

lol...... You may be an egotistical, self centered, self serving, all about me person.......but i've never really considered you to be that negative LV.

But then, who am I to argue with others opinions. :)

Love ya man.

Only time I was really known for being "negative" was the 18 or so months I spent on here trying to get Dooley fired. I was ripped a lot over all that. Came close to being banned a few times I think. In the end, it was all worth it.

Glad you stuck with your opinion then. I was one of the idiots that supported him for way too long.

Got 2 CBs since Burrow committed to osu.

One to UT and one to au by JC.

Sadly, after doing some snooping, it doesn't look like Burrow committing will effect tOSU's pursuit of Gibson as they've been planning on 2 QBs all along.

Bet you're pumped about that AU crystal ball though :)

Again, this weekend is pivotal if Auburn wants to have a legitimate chance. We need him on campus for Big Cat in order to compete. If he stays away, I'd feel good if I were you guys. As always, good luck. Someone is going to get a good FOOTBALL player, regardless of position
