Also playing time since we didn't take a qb in the last recruiting class.

Playing time? I'm not so sure about that. I doubt many would be shocked at all to see Dobbs or Ferguson as the starting QB for UT in 2015 & 2016 at least. Possibly even 2017. IF Dobbs takes a RS this year, both guys still have 3 years to play after this year. Do I think a kid coming in stands a great chance of beating out these 2 kids with them having 2 years in the system? Not really. Another reason I would be just fine with taking Jennings and using the other spot elsewhere. Space the QBs out. It will prove to be a better plan long term IMO.

Gibson takes the snap and dishes a long screen down the line to Jennings. Jennings scrambles, shakes a defender, and what's this?! He throws a bullet right down the middle and it's hauled in by...... what number was that?......wait a minute.. I think that was Gibson. It was Gibson!... on a burner right down the middle. Where'd that guy come from?! TOUCHDOWN TENNESSEE! cue the band. Meanwhile somewhere in Ohio Urban Meyer tucks into a ball and cries gently. .....It could happen.

Comeback of the A-11 offense? Sweet!

I tend to agree. The issue for Vols is his family and coach all but sold on Urbz or UM at the last hour. Those relationships date back 4+ years and dont seem to be fading. This one reminds me of Tracy Howards recruitment. Parents and coach won on NSD. jmo

They often do win out but there are many examples, especially lately, where they don't. Arky's RB whose mom took off with his papers, the brothers from Louisiana whose mom wanted them at LSU, Adoree's family, and on and on.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that Gibson is number one on the QB board now...

You guys are hilarious. if he bumps that completion percentage he'd be playing as efficient as anyone on the board.

19 to 3 TD-INT

Avg 20 Yds per pass, 10 per rush.

Almost threw for 2000 Yds on 90 completions and rushed for 1000, and he wins.

There's a reason people want him.

EDIT:

Cool stats

TD's
Pass: 20
Rush: 10

Yds
Pass: 1900
Rush: 1000

Avg
Pass: 21
Rush: 10

It's pretty interesting how balanced it is.

I think too many guys listen to gruden, jaws, Kiper, and mcshay pre draft... This is college football.

Where guys like Jordan Lynch, Brad Smith, and eric Couch can tear it up.

Lol. I wasn't insinuating that. Just saying ouch, not great. He's still #1 on our board.

Wasn't insinuating you were, yanking your proverbial chain. The longer post wasn't in direct response to you either.

I do think the kid is an elite prospect and there are some that outright hate on him.

Lol how can I phrase this correctly.

From an athlete standpoint, ELITE

From a QB standpoint, a loonnnngg way to go, but the ceiling is VERY high

If you went by high school stats to predict what these kids would do in college. Worley should win the Heisman this year.

That's fine.

I'm just saying, he's obviously taking care of the ball and putting points on the board, in multiple ways.

I guess the point I'm making is that I don't think he's as far behind as some think. His mechanics need to be nailed down but he's playing pretty efficient football if the stats aren't deceiving.

3 year stats for Worley:

Total Passing Yards
13320

Passing TDs
156

Passing Yards/Game
296.0

Pass Completions
1140

Pass Attempts
1717

Interceptions
44

Lol, this isn't even apples to apples bro.

Worley obviously peaked in HS. Gibson is scratching the surface.

19 to 3 ratio is pretty good for a "raw athlete".

That's my point. No one knows how a high school QB is going to do in college. How many championships did Barkley win at USC. Your talking about the hardest position to play in football. All you can do is hope. That what we are doing as Vol fans with Worley,Dobbs, and Ferguson.
