Yet other than a few tweets theres been nothing controversial about his attitude lol. Hes not that overrated. He has all the tools to be a great QB. Just needs some work. Quit acting like Gentry is the second coming of Christ and maybe you will be able to tell that they both could be very very good here. So much hate for a 17 yr old kid, its comical.

Heres a scenario: Gentry announces in a couple months that he is going to OK St. Torrance actually was interested but decides not to come here because he sees where people say he has no character, etc.


Then what?

Why bad mouth a guy who has named us his leader?

What if those are the only 2 good QBs that we had a chance at?


People dont realize that all recruits have to do is Google their name and its all right there for them to see.

They aren't at a mature age and this stuff can affect them and their decisions.

Volnation loves Torrance Gibson. If we didn't he wouldn't have 280,000 + views on his thread. Most of the negativity is coming from people who are either on the Gentry hype train or those who are overly pessimistic and need to convince themselves they never really wanted the guy to limit the "hurt" should he not pick us. So basically, bias and psychological disorders are the root of negativity. The reality is, and I hope Torrance Gibson reads this one on Google, that I can find 102,000 people every Saturday who would LOVE to watch Torrance Gibson run through that big orange T. That's a whoooole lot of love right there.

Look at you figuring things out :thumbsup:...seriously if this kid gives up a dramatic signing day announcement and commits to us before Gentry AND our staff takes that commitment, then a vast majority of the "negative" posters who question his skills at QB will trust Butch and embrace him...if he's such a devotee to following message boards he's heard criticism from OSU and the 27 other teams he's considering :)

He'd be a star WR here, or they are very confident of their coaching abilities. The only place he fits is Auburn.

We have a bunch of sheeple on here. There is a reason he doesn't throw more than 15 passes a game. I hope I'm wrong, but there's a reason he throws a lot of screens.

Torrance Gibson would love it at UT, playing in the SEC with a team on the rise. He could be a big part of it. I think it's us or OSU and have a good feeling we have a very good shot. With Coach Jones and staff selling what they are doing and then have him look at our tradition, from Condridge to T-Rob to Tee Martin and Peyton Manning. I will be happy with him or Gentry. Anyway I like our chances.And lastly anyone saying a athletic QB cannot flourish in our offense is nuts,IMHO. GO BIG ORANGE!!!

You said the guy had questionable character over some tweets, calling him arrogant and such.


Theres a highlight vid like 8 posts back. Watch the very first play. The guy can throw. Maybe they throw a lot of screens because its hard for HS players to defend them. They are quick easy passes. That doesnt mean you can overlook all of the big throws he has made.

He would fit here just fine. The spread we run can adapt to any kind of QB. Hes not Denard Robinson. He can throw.

I doubt they went to the level of saying they didnt want him because of a maybe on another QB or say that hes arrogant, and a thug or whatever else people have called him.

All of this. I don't think TG is as good as Gentry or Waller when it comes to pure passing. But the kid can throw and throwing mechanics can be improved.

When looking the speed of his WRs it's no wonder he throws screens. I would too. They have some really good athletes on that team.

Fact is nobody knows how good TG is going to be in college until he plays. If TG decides to choose us then I will be very happy. We haven't had a player with his kind of skills at UT in awhile.

Can he throw a route tree? It sure doesn't look like it. How good is he reading defenses. Anybody can throw screen passes and bombs. I want to see routes he will have to throw in our west coast passing game.
