'15 FL QB/WR/DB (anything he wants) Torrance Gibson PART II

I thought I'd share the whole UT coaching staff just followed Gibson on twitter 5 minutes ago. I thought they already followed him, but very interesting.

UT has really slowed down in terms of how much they are actively perusing him.

UT was in the lead for him and could have landed him but they have cooled.
So, you get daily updates of his communication with the staff, do you? Pfffft.

Just watched most of his game against Dwyer. Started off a little slow, but toward the end of the 1st half, he started getting the hot hand.

I think he could be = to Teddy Bridgwater as a passer and even better as an athlete. Here's the thing. Having a mobile QB who can hurt teams with his feet is great and all, but if they have a good overall game, coaches tend to pull back from using their mobility.

Under normal cicumstances, TG would only be asked to run the ball a handful of times per game, but when you have another QB, like Jennings, who can do what he does, as well, I think you can afford to let him be more involved in the run game.

So, with that said, the way to bring TG in as a QB, might be to tell him and Jennings that you only want to have 2 QB's from this class, on the roster, so they will compete for the 2nd spot. Whoever loses the competition will be asked to play another position so they can contribute right away.

Your last paragraph is what I and many others have been saying for a long time. A little competition is always a good thing.

I will be flamed for this but here goes from both their games IMHO I think Gibson has a higher ceiling, and is more dynamic than Jennings at this point.

From the way things have played out, it appears CBJ himself didn't want this kid. Think about that for a minute.

I didn't see his game today, but it sounds like he played well. Obviously a lot of coaches just don't think the kid is worth the risk, and I think CBJ and company made the right move with the QBs they took.

I asked months ago, was Can Newton worth the risk?
This is the #1 dual threat QB and by the end of the year he will be a top 10 player. I watched the Blackman game and then a little of TGs game and the difference between TG and JJ is night and day.

Obviously the UT coaches see things differently. They took JJ's commitment. Then they took QD's commitment while Gibson was on campus. Then they decided to pass on TG altogether. Fans may not like it, but I'm sure they have their reasons.

Both guys committed before Gibson. So how do you know CBJ passed on him when he doesn't commit until October? Your attempt at logic makes no sense. Can you provide any proof whatsoever that CBJ passed on Gibson? You really need to stop making assumptions about what CBJ is thinking. It really makes you look stupid.

You know as much as everyone else does about CBJ and Gibson. Which is absolutely nothing.

It's alright if you want to keep hoping TG is a possibility for our Vols. You can even continue hoping there is a possibility that he transfers midway through his FR year of college. Then you can hope he is willing to sit out a year and consider Tennessee after he red shirts his 1st year in college. You can hope, I just think it's clear JJ and QD are the QBs CBJ is taking in 2015.

Keep hope alive! :loco:

I see Jennings as a more athletic version of Jason Campbell, and TG as a taller version of a Michael Vick. Both were successful in college, and both played/play in the league. Would like to have both and let them duke it out for the same spot.

Jennings and Dormady for 2015. Kendall already committed for 2016. Vols looking very good with Hunter Johnson for 2017. Anyone who still thinks the UT staff would take TG today and risk damaging any part of that group of future UT QBs is just not paying attention IMO.
