'15 CA QB Ricky Town

Why wouldn't a QB want to go to Alabama? You have to do less than any other QB in the conference and get in the Heisman discussion for it.

"Hey Ricky, Butch here...we want you throwing passes to Marquez North, Lavon Pearson, Josh Malone, and Preston Williams. How's that sound?"

And only the top TE's in the country in Daniel Helm and Ethan Wolf..

And hybrid beasts in Jason Croom and Neiko Creamer..

And only the best running game around in Hurd to balance things out..

I think this is a very smart move from butch and co. as i would like to see us take a QB in this class as a hedge. But does this offer make anyone think that butch may be worried about our QB situation (i am not saying he is, just asking for opinions

Ricky is a 2015 recruit and Butch will definitely take a QB next year. He states that he likes to take one in every class but it just didn't work out this year.

I think Butch is going to recruit QBs that can excel in his system....he'll put the one on the field that will excel...he's not making a statement...we gotta get used to this :pardon:

or he could try this angle...aj mcarron gets about as much love as an ugly ass stray dog. no bama qb ever gets any credit. they will always have to settle for being system/game management qb's. plus he'd be competing with like 5 other elite qb's and have the biggest douche bag in the history of time for a coach.

Personally, I think that has an Atlanta sound to it.

How nice would it be to flip him from Bama? I can see it now, Town calls Saban and says "sorry coach but I am all Vol now." Saban feverishly tries to call him back but Town pulls a Hurd and hits ignore.

I was kind of shocked to see him choose Bama honestly because they have Cornwell.

I fully believe Rosen is on that list.

Nice list. Of those, which two do we have the best shot at landing? From what I have read, it looks like Jennings and maybe Stidham?

The man is merely given his opinion just like we do on here everyday. Sorry just don't see anything elitist in what he said.

Kinda kidding, kinda serious. A lot of people out West tend to think, why would a great West Coast QB want to leave the state without going to what they might consider an elite program. We haven't been elite lately. I kinda used the Kiffin phrase in jest. Kiffin did always act like everything was better out there. I'm sure this guy probably does know his stuff, but we have pulled some QBs from Cali. ie (Bray, Clauson etc) I just think if Butch gets his shot he can show Ricky how great Tennessee is. Elitist was probably harsh. I just wouldn't count Butch out.

I totally agree I would never count Butch and Thig completely out. I have to admit though I think pulling an elite QB from the west coast would still be a long shot right now. Of course more then half the 2014 class we have committed were very very long shots this time last year.

I don't know. I haven't seen enough concrete data to draw an opinion with respect to whom Butch has highest on his board at this point. Jennings, as an instate prospect, certainly makes sense. Stidham seemed, based on the earliest reports, to have been one of the most coveted quarterbacks and best fits for Butch's offense. However, we have had horrible luck over the years, in terms of retention, with signees from the Lone Star State. Perhaps, Butch can change that trend.

The staff definitely seems to be interested in Luck, but he is the son of a Missouri alum, so it may be difficult to pry him from the clutches of Gary Pinkel. I believe that Coach Bajakian is supposed to meet Kyle Kearns on his West Coast swing this week or early next week. Based on geography, Lorenzo Nunez would seem to be a viable candidate, since he is from Kennesaw, Georgia; his only other major offers, at this point, are from Ohio State and Clemson. However, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see us push hard for the California guys; we have had good luck recruiting West Coast quarterbacks, most notably Casey Clausen (and, by transfer, his younger brother, Rick), Erik Ainge and Tyler Bray.

Bama getting Lane Kiffin on staff probably solidified Town's commitment. 247 reported that he was the first recruit Kiffin spoke to. He sounded pretty excited, and the offensive scheme and concepts at Bama won't change much. They are just going to try to speed up their offense a little. Just FYI for anyone who cares.
