Take out Eddie Jackson, Ryan Anderson, and Rueben Foster and Alabama would have issues

Also we are 21st in S&P defense so we are doing pretty good actually

I'm sorry this is a misleading stat offenses get the ball more against us 149 yds is not a lot to me in college football

Our defense actually has several areas to correct. Especially our secondary. The rushing defense most likely won't get much better, maybe a bit when Kirkland comes back. We keep using Barnett to cover tight ends in the first halfs of games, which I don't really like. Shoop makes adjustments at the half every time to a more pass rush intensive attack. Having a starting CB and 2 starting LBs out (with Cam and Maybin probably out for the year) will hurt everyone not named bama. We may need our DT's to step up even more to stop the run.

So nerd note: for every minute they had the ball (36:and some change) they got 4.1 yds rushing

I have been a little critical about Shoop and honestly, it was dumb of me. We have lost one of the best LB and DB in the country to injury. DK is a very good young LB. Thats 2 SR and one SO starters in some very important positions on the defense. Not only that, you have lost your heart, soul and leadership on the defense. That is absolutely huge.

Now if JRM, Sutton and DK had been starting all year healthy and our defensive numbers were still like they are now, then there would be a problem.

They have 4-5 star depth 3 deep on defense...
8 years of top 3 recruiting classes does that for you..
We have to show we can win with top guys so more tops guys come here and not there. It's a process, but we are now finally seeing it play out. Beat A&M and Go Big Orange.

Fret not though. We may lose a game sooner or later and all the "Vol" fans can rejoice in the fact that their doom & gloom prediction will have come true.

That quick snap UGA was doing had us playing on our heels. Really UGA had the best game plan to attack us this year. Defense looked pedestrian in that game. UGA was the aggressor all day. Playing on the road is about attitude and we looked passive at times last week.. That won't cut it this week.. Got to get nasty on the road..Refuse to lose and the dline has to attack instead of react..

A&M has the countries 13th ranked rushing attack. They have a bruiser and a break away guy. Bigger issue is Knight and those recievers though, IMO.

Ref. Run outside: Do you think it's because our Def.ends crash down most of the time? This pass rush action may be to help cover for weak cb play??

They are getting sucked in off play action on the bomb.. better than most years in run support

We are missing 3 All SEC caliber starters. 2 of those being linebackers. If you had asked anyone if they thought we could beat Georgia or Florida without those 3 in the lineup the answer would have been a resounding no. Please stop finding things to b!tch about and enjoy 5-0. We have to be the most miserable winning fan base in the entire country.

We made a struggling UGA OL look like best in the league. A&M and Bama both have great rushing attacks. I do think their QB play is limited so we need to force their QBs to need to make plays to get the job done. Have to get better in a hurry.

The honest truth is due to injury we have guys starting that wouldn't make the top SEC rosters. This year is poised to be a 10-2 year with a good shot at winning the East and playing in the Sugar or Cotton Bowl. Winning games and playing for championships will improve our recruiting and result in our backups being guys waiting to be starters, not just injury fill in players
