What no post from the Sky is Falling crowd.

Well then, by all means, allow me to be first.....

Since the magical season of '98, the Vols average finish is 24.00. Average finish = 24th. Average finish = just inside the Top 25. Good enough for 10th place on the chart, without re-computing every other teams average over that same span. Do that, and we probaly slide another notch or three.

During that same span, the highest final ranking was 7th. No shame there.

The lowest was 63rd. On the bright side, there were 56 other teams that finished ranked lower that year.

I guess it's all in how you choose to look at it. Heck, we could be Buffalo, right?

From 6th overall to 10th overall in a 9 year span.

The sky might not be falling, but the clouds have definitely gotten lower.

Go Vols.

One thing's for sure. That 24.00 average won't keep Phil in Knoxville much longer.

Go Vols.

I'd forgotten how hard Florida fell immediately on Zook's ascension. It's interesting to look at their Spurrier years, then the Zook years, and then the Meyer years. It's also funny to look at the posts of people claiming Meyer only got his National Championship because of a bunch of players that were 29, 37, and 35 in the years before he arrived.

Take a look at where OU was the three years before Stoops arrived.

you know what's going to be interesting is to see where we stand in another 10 years when the 90's aren't part of our "recent" history.....

i think it's safe to say we all know where we have been, i think most of us are more concerned now with where we are going........

and that's not meant to discount the 90's.....or CPF's role in the 90's.

but it does stand to reason, and i've been plenty guilty of this in the past as well, so i don't live a glass house here, to look at the 6 years and not know that we are regressing to this point.
