'14 VA S Quin Blanding

Blanding's height, fluid hips and overall speed make him a prototypical safety. There was rarely a deep pass that was completed to his side. The explosiveness and leaping ability Blanding showed was very impressive. He was able to read and, a few times, anticipate routes, taking away the quarterback's deep option. Blanding has a lot of potential and is poised for a productive senior campaign. It was good to see him at both cornerback in one-on-ones and at his natural position at safety.

This year and next year are poised to be big years for football in the DMV. Can't wait.

Hopefully, Blanding doesn't succomb to the VT pressure because I'd love to have him suit up for us.

Up to 20 offers. Holds a UT offer & Alabama has recently offered. He says USC is next. Wants to get a look at UT.

"I haven't talked to them lately. I gave them a call, left a voice mail and then I just got busy with this. I can't really call them right now. I'm just waiting to get back home and call them and all that stuff. I'd like to talk to them," he said. "I would love to go visit Tennessee. Every school I'm talking to I'd love to go see, just to see what they're talking about and see their campus compared to the next campus. So I mean I just want to try to get everywhere."

If Blanding stays in-state, he ain't going to VT

Prefers to see his athletic career do this eh? :focus:

Regardless of what London is selling, there's no way if I were staying in state that I wouldn't go to, arguably, DBU. VT essentially has the blueprint for putting DBs in the NFL.

To each his own.

This... I watch VT just to watch good secondary play. The do a great job with the CBs in particular.

I get what you're saying. I'm not saying he SHOULD pick UVA over VT, I just think he WILL do that, if he stays in state.

I think he is leaving the state as well. Penn State was very high on his list.

At this point, UVA is the clear leader. Obviously a really long way to go, but thats how it stands for now. IF UVa gets his teammate Smoke Mizzell, that position will be even further cemented. Blanding showed really well at the Rivals 5* event, so I'm sure everyone's gonna come calling.

Rated the #1 underclassmen at the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge.

Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge: Top Underclassmen

1. Quin Blanding, S, Virginia Beach (Va.) Bayside

Blanding has great size at 6-foot-2 and nearly 200 pounds, but has the athleticism of a cornerback. He will be an elite safety prospect in the 2014 class due to that size, speed, and most of all, his instincts, in the defensive secondary. He displayed great closing speed when he worked in space during Sunday's 7-on-7 event. He is rarely out of position on any play.

I have a buddy that lives around the corner from Quin's highschool. He called and asked me if he thought he'd get UT into trouble if he wore a UT shirt and cap to one of his games and cheers for the kid. I told him I didn't think so but I thought I'd ask the recruitnics up in here. TIA

No there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. He can even sing rocky top.

I don't know if we want him singing, might not help the cause. Thanks for the help fellas. After he checks out a game he said he'd give me a report and I'll bring it here.

As long as he does not approach the kid and start talking to him and then only if he can be considered a booster.
