'14 VA OL Coleman Thomas (TN commit 3/9/13)

He's versatile on the line but mainly center correct? Think he's crowders back up and if so, will bring quality depth til he potentially starts

I think center is "the plan", but he is versatile enough to play any position along the OL. He also has the size to do it.

This guy will not be standing on the sideline very long, no matter where he plays. I think that he would would be best suited at center and if he is th e=best center, start him no matter who is playing the position.

I'm pretty sure our staff likes Mack Crowder. He won "most improved player" at the O&W game. Not sure if that means he will definitely start after this year though

I've said it before, but the kid's level of competition concerns me. Sure, there is nothing he can do about that, but in the couple times I've seen him play, he didn't really dominate like you would think he would.

On the flip side, his measurables are fantastic, and I'm excited to see a kid from my neck of the woods wear the orange. I do hope he has a great career on the hill.

No question his measurables are impressive, add that with his natural athletic ability for a big sized young man, I believe he has unlimited potential. He, by no means is finished growing and has the frame to add a lot of muscle. We are fortunate to have his commitment. Also, he and the other commits seem to really be bonding and recruiting like crazy for the VOLS.

Needs to be bigger to take on the massive nose tackles in the league

This class keeps getting better and better! Glad Coleman has some company on the OL now with the Zeus commit today! Along with last years OL recruits hopefully these guys build off the foundation that is in place and pick right up when our seniors (+ Tiny) leave next year!

This kid could play on the baseball team too, he could Babe Ruth Jr. with all the home dingers he hits. Dobbs and ColeTrain multi sport masters

I posted this in the football thread, but this is what I have seen from this staff in the past, and expect in the future.

Gillespie saw this kid (Thomas) in person at WV last summer. They were probably the only staff that has seen the kid besides his HS coaches. That’s my personal opinion of why they took his commitment before the evaluation period. They knew he was going to be good.

And this also goes to the thing that I have been saying about their finding of talent (from 2005 or so to 2012). They found some awesome talent for years at CMU and UC. Then somebody else would swoop in from a big conference like the SEC or B1G Tweleven and sign the kid.

Now they are finding the same, very-talented kids, but they sign the awesome talent. It’s pretty difficult for the Big 12-10-11? or ACC to really sell that their school is anywhere near better. Especially after they see the place in person.

So I won’t even be the least bit surprised if this cat makes a big jump in the ratings. I won’t be surprised if Orlando Brown does, or any other of their commits. This staff has a good eye for talent. They know what to look for in players to fit their scheme. I’ll continue to have confidence they will get the players Tennessee needs.

"It really did feel different coming back, not really as a recruit," Thomas said. "Being there with so many of the other commitments, there was a real family feel to it. I've always felt comfortable there, but it was even better going back there kind of feeling like you were already a part of things."

"I definitely get the feeling from the coaches, from the other recruits, that big things are going to happen at Tennessee. It's hard to be around coach Jones and not believe that he's going to turn things around," Thomas said, adding that his most recent exposure to the program gave him a clearer picture of what 'turning it around' means.

An excellent student, he'll have no problem being a December graduate, and admits that he's heavily considering the pro's and cons' of enrolling at Tennessee early.

"It's something I think about every day to be honest, even though it's a long way off," Thomas said of what's becoming a more and more common move for signees. "There are a lot of positives and negatives to it on both sides. Obviously, you're going to miss a lot of your senior year if you do it, but at the same time, I can see where it would be a big advantage to get in early and try to get a head start. "It's definitely something that I'm thinking about."

Thomas plans to participate in UT Lineman camp in June.

Let's compare the UF recruiting material to something one of UT's commitments did. And VW was probably just playin around. I love UT!

Coleman is planning on graduating early and being an EE according to his grandfather. He's also leading the state in home runs this year in single A baseball. We're getting a heck of an athlete at center. Go Vols!

Look for this kid to blow up just working on football, year round. He could probably get drafted in baseball. He has several Virginia High School League records in baseball. Most RBI in a game with 9 and most RBI for career, way over 100 in just three seasons.
