-Wahoos247 insider Jamie Oakes caught up with the 247Composite’s No. 3 weak-side defensive end in Jalyn Holmes, who checks in as 247Sports No. 45 prospect nationally. The 6-foot-5, 225-pound Norfolk (Va.) Lake Taylor standout is high on Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Maryland, North Carolina, USC, Virginia and Virginia Tech, however it seems like the Seminoles are the program standing out. Holmes keeps in daily contact with the Florida State staff and he also appreciates the opportunity the Seminoles are giving him to play tight end.

Back in January, Holmes named a top eight of*Alabama,*Clemson,*Florida, State,Maryland,*North Carolina,*USC, and*Virginia Tech. He has since opened his recruitment back up and will visit Clemson,*Ohio State*and*Tennessee*in the near future.

Lake Taylor- Holmes has added significant muscle to his 6-foot-6 frame and hasn’t lost a bit of the quickness or athleticism that makes him one of the most sought-after jumbo athletes in the 2014 class. In addition to the invite to The Opening, Holmes was named the defensive line MVP by the camp coaching staff. He is ranked as the No. 4 weakside defensive end for 2014 by 247Sports, but also is being recruited as a tight end by several programs.

"I feel like I made a top ten for the wrong reasons, and I just wanted to make the right decision so I opened everything back up so I could look at everything that had been given to me," Holmes said recently to Rivals' Adam Friedman.

The schools that have stood out most to Holmes are Tennessee, Florida State, Ohio State, Virginia Tech and UNC.

I like that we are the only SEC school standing out. Now, someone needs to point him to an article on the 63 SEC players drafted in the NFL.

Holmes and Hendrix would just be silly.

Holmes, Hendrix, Barnett, Ford, Cage, Miclisse, Bates, Mouhon, one more LB plus the insane possibilities of our secondary class would easily give us an SEC defense right from the start.

Would love to get the kid in Tennessee Orange. With that said, FSU did have the most players drafted of any team INCLUDING the entire SEC. Hard to try and point to why he needs to be in the SEC to make it in the NFL when FSU is right there on his list.

Me thinks your expectation for ever player we get to pan out as a good sec starter is a tad high.

Methinks we should have higher expectations for these kids than we do the Saulsberry's, Carson's, Sapp's, and Smith's.

There's nothing to suggest that we have many kids on the current roster that are better than the kids we have coming in, especially on the defensive side of the ball.

You have no idea how those kids will make the transition from dominating in HS to playing kids as dominant as they were every week. Not every one will be a playmaker. We're gonna have some busts too.

Duh. But I think most people can agree that the expectations of this class are higher than the previous few.

We will always expect nothing but the best. It's what makes Tennessee a top notch school. But to hype every player to the point of sec starter is a bit out there. Even for every big time program there's those who don't pan out. That's why there's 85 kids on the roster, not 22.

I do agree tho that those players would be a great pull. And at this point were going to need as many great pulls as possible to get back to the top.
