'14 TX DE Dimarya Mixon (UT commit 11/9/13)

No 4 to play 4. Its basically like we greyshirted him

I don't think he has ever gone to college, so he should be like a post-grad, like he went to Prep school. He signed with NE last year and didn't get in.

He should have five to play four, AND he should only have to fit in the 85.

Really, not count against the 25? You sure?

Was his visit an OV? If it was, I would think he would count as part of this class.

Wow, I hope that's true.... This would be a steal then

Poster over on scout says the kid is now 270lbs. Hope that is the case as it sets him up well to get snaps at DT sooner.

"Just finally getting a chance to meet coach Jones and find out the kind of person he is and the program overall and knowing the history of the program was what sold me," Mixon said. "He is turning the program around and like coach said, we're not playing well now but the program is going to turn around and you can see already from the class that is committed. I think that with me coming in early I'll be a big asset."

"I just see a lot of potential," Mixon said. "They are losing a lot of seniors up front and there are a lot of good guys coming in and I feel like it's the right thing to do and I'm happy to make my decision."

"Just to know the kind of person he is, he's a great guy when it comes to football and when it just comes to talking," Mixon said. "He's a great coach and he can turn this program around. I'm excited."

After garnering over 20 offers last year, Mixon accumulated offers from Boise State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Arizona State and Washington State along with Tennessee. Mixon was ranked a 5.7 defensive end last year and was listed as the No. 16 strongside defensive end in america.

The article says he's 6'4" 263lbs.

Sooooo... I'm confused. Can someone help me out? Is he a JUCO guy or is he a high-school senior? Why does it say he got those offers last year instead of this year? Thanks in advance!

He was a '13 guy and going to Nebraska. Something happened and he didn't go. He's now an EE in the '14 class. Not a JUCO. Didn't lose any eligibility.

I think he failed some class required for college?
It was said he was taking 1 class at a CC this semester, so it had to have gone well lol

People throwing around the term "like a grey shirt" is confusing some people. This guys is a recruit for the '14 class. He does count as a member of the 30 we can take.

I hope this works. This guy seems to have plenty of potential. A couple of red flags: Has he taken care of the academic problems for sure? Him being committed to several schools already could point to a decommitment or transfer from us.
Hope I am wrong but I do see red flags on this one.

Mixon has the advantage over the other freshmen of having a year to grow and fill his body out. Now he needs to get ingot he weight room to get stronger and learn the scheme and techniques he will need to master the position.

Is he going to be enrolling in January?

:hi:

To be honest, I'm not sure about much of anything, but he doesn't fit in either the 2013 or the 2014 class. He isn't in school now. He's like a free-agent, I think, like a bonus pick. I know he doesn't have to count against the 25 in FEB 2014 unless they choose to do so, but that just wouldn't make sense. I think the numbers will work out, and it's not important for me to know how, except that I think it would be nice.
