"Just finally getting a chance to meet coach Jones and find out the kind of person he is and the program overall and knowing the history of the program was what sold me," Mixon said. "He is turning the program around and like coach said, we're not playing well now but the program is going to turn around and you can see already from the class that is committed. I think that with me coming in early I'll be a big asset."
"I just see a lot of potential," Mixon said. "They are losing a lot of seniors up front and there are a lot of good guys coming in and I feel like it's the right thing to do and I'm happy to make my decision."
"Just to know the kind of person he is, he's a great guy when it comes to football and when it just comes to talking," Mixon said. "He's a great coach and he can turn this program around. I'm excited."
After garnering over 20 offers last year, Mixon accumulated offers from Boise State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Arizona State and Washington State along with Tennessee. Mixon was ranked a 5.7 defensive end last year and was listed as the No. 16 strongside defensive end in america.
