Nick Watkins
Nick Watkins - Yahoo! Sports

UT offered Watkins this past week. He's the #5 player in TX per 247, and the #30 overall player in the Top247.

He has offers from Bama, UGA, Arkansas, LSU, Texas, and OU among others. He has visited Bama and Texas recently.

Another one I think LSU has a legit shot. Father played for the Lions in the NFL.

Watkins, Paris, and Brown are 3 DBs from Texas to watch. The 2014 class for DBs may be the best I have seen in one class.

247 has an article up for those who want to read.

Watkins said that UT was his second offer, the first after the Longhorns officially offered him on Aug. 2. He says he doesn't really know anything about the UT program, and,

“I just know their head coach wears orange pants,” he said, referring to Tennessee coach Derek Dooley’s trademark game-day attire. “I’ve seen him on SportsCenter. I mean, it’s good. He seems like he has personality.”

He doesn't want to make an early decision, and he wants to get to know every college from which he gets interest. He grew up following the Longhorns.

“I’ve been looking at Texas since a young age — I’d say 5,” he said, adding that he’s plenty familiar with former Longhorns quarterbacks Vince Young and Colt McCoy. “I’ve been looking at Texas all my life.

He says he's looking to play early, and wants a school with good business major.

DB is a need and I like what we're doing in Tejas---'12 McNeil and '13 Miles

This would be another great DB addition to the '14 class. Good size for a CB. Athletic, fluid, good speed, great ball skills, hip movement, and long arms.

SN: Good bloodlines---Brother, Bobby Jr., plays safety for AFA. Dad, Bobby Watkins, played CB in the NFL.

Think we'll get most of our DBs from closer to home next season personally. Shouldn't have to hit Texas as hard unless a huge talent is really considering us.

TKjr.- S

Berry Brothers( Evan CB and Elliot S)

Nick Ruffin CB

Deion Singleton - S/CB

Jalen Tabor - CB/S

Are all guys we're really in heavy on. The first 4 I would be surprised if we didn't land them. Tabor is going to be a fight but hell what good player isn't. Want to see TKjr. pull the trigger early for us and get momentum started. There's another in-state DB Rashaun Gaulden/Golden(forgot how to spell his last name lol) we're in on.

I know what you're saying, but personally I don't care if they're close to home or on the other side of the world. If Watkins wants to wear Tennessee orange we take him. IMO

I'm not saying he's not. I know we're in quite a few good/elite DBs. Maybe because we need them. Lol But I want to see how many we take(maybe 6-7).

I hear you. And, I should have noted that I agree with your previous post. I like that we're still out there in Texas and recruiting big-time players nationally. But, there's a ton of talent in and around the state of TN at the DB positions in 2014. Those should be our focus (TKjr, Berry bros, etc.)
