No, he said it on twitter. I asked him if he had to guess, will it be UT or Clemson?

He responded with "I don't have to guess. Haha."

Woody pretty much already told everyone what he think when he said "calvacade" of coaches really helped Tennessee out! I don't know how he would say it is Clemson after that statement.

He said the exact same thing on VQ, but the from context in which he said it, he meant that he isn't required to give anyone his prediction on the matter.

He said, "It's a sticky situation. It's why I'm glad my bosses don't make me put out public predictions. I would be changing mine on Malone on a daily basis."

What? Sammy Watkins is not coming back I'm pretty sure.

Didn't say their Top 3.... said 3 of their top WRs in terms of # of catches. Difference. I'll do some research and report back for clarity.

Edit:
Sammy Watkins. 78 rec Junior
Martavis Bryant. 38 rec Junior
Adam Humphries. 36 rec Junior
Germone Hopper. 21 rec Soph
Mike Williams 19 rec Freshman

We all know that Watkins will more than likely declare. But the list shows all the other top WRs are underclassmen.

That was my assumption. I was going to see if he would confirm it. It seems like he is saying it is Tennessee, and that's not a guess. JMO by combining the two statements.

3 of their top 5? Their #1 is gone, Malone could get targets over the remaining top 4.

I'm just anxious. I guess like we all are here. I pray he is a VOL. It's awesome to have great WRs like him, North, Pearson, and Preston Williams next year. Makes the QBs job 1000 times easier. I'm going with ALL-VOL!

The point is, if anybody would read what I wrote, is that 4 of their top 5 WRs will definitely be back. Watkins, while everybody believes he will declare, is just a Junior so there is some slim, infantesimal chance that he could return.

Either way, bottom line is, Clemson's WR situation is NOT wide open for a freshman to step in and play. UT's absolutely is.

5 of our top 5 will be back, so that stat isn't really relevant.

Martavis Bryant will absolutely be their #1 receiver. I don't care who else they land. And Morris loves Humphries as well as Charone Peake will be back next year and has every measurable Malone has. He's just been hurt.

And you know for sure their next 4 are better than ours.

Better than Josh Smith, Jason Croom and Pig Howard? What do you think? I'd take that bet.

Point is they have 4 other receivers that look to be pretty well established. We have North for sure and Pig in the slot. Clemson's passing offense this year is deep and dynamic.... I'm watching them right now. Ours sucks. Again, what do you think?

It's not even comparable. The only argument would be that they love 4 wide sets so he'll be on the field plenty. But the depth chart is much more favorable for him at UT.

Completely agree. It's somewhat subjective and speculative at this point, but regardless of the situation at Clemson or any other school, UTs WR situation is as wide open as it could possibly be for a stud, soon to be 5 star WR, to step right in on day 1.

I still don't think our receivers are that bad. They are still young and have time to develop. We have a great stable of WRs for the future. Malone is just that good though. He will start for Tennessee or Clemson next year. He is that good! Paul Harris, Jason Croom, Josh Smith, North of course, who knows maybe Drae Bowles could all end up being great! I would say our future passing game suck. Not saying you were, but I have heard plenty downing our young WRs and they haven't developed to their full potential yet. They are young and will get better. Malone is a st8 beast though!

Evidently, no WR on our roster last week, against Vanderbilt, could run any route in our offense and get open so that the coaching staff felt even remotely comfortably running any other play besides a WR screen.

Prior to the last futile drive Dobbs had 9 completions on 16 attempts for 16 yards. Dobbs shoulders blame for this too, but a lot of if not most of the blame, IMO, rests squarely on a very poor WR corps. I doubt Dobbs would've have been "seeing ghosts" and running around so anxiously in the pocket if he'd had receivers running open in front of him.

Exactly, ours sucks. We're going to have the same coaches and QBs. Clemson has some unknowns at WR next year who are all juniors, so Malone would have 1 year max before becoming number 1 guy. There's no way you can say we have a better situation with the year we've had, the play calling we have, and the QBs we have.

Don't forget Ryan Jenkins

You think Chad Morris is going to be there much longer?

I agree with you on the route running and how Dobbs has to feel when the receivers are not where they are suppose to be. Just saying that our young wide receivers will still be good when they become more polished, work on their route running, positioning their bodies correctly, timing with the QB, etc. I believe they will correct these things with more time. They were all highly rated and sought after recruits. They have the athletic ability, just need more developing. Hopefully some in this pack will step it up.

Wish John Ward was still announcing so we could here him say, "Malone to the 50, to the 40, 30, 20, 10, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1! TOUCHDOWN BIG ORANGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:td:

All this talk about WR depth at different schools: throw it out the window. Malone is going to play wherever he goes. Makes no difference.
