lol. Georgia loses a close game to one of the best teams in the country in Week 1 and we're already talking about who the new coach will be. Gotta love the SEC.

Agreed. With Georgia, Richt has earned the right to fix any problems and they will not remove him anytime soon. It will be more than likely him electing to leave versus the UGA admins pulling the trigger.

Of course, jmo.

1990

Vols were big favorites to win. Bama's first year under Gene Stallings and lost an early game to La Tech (I think) - maybe had 2 or 3 losses already.

Games was tied at 6-6 late in 4th qtr. Vols line up for long FG try - Bama blocks it and ball rolls 20-30 yards before Bama recovers. Van Tiffin kicked the game winner and Bama wins 9-6

One of the most sickening losses in my memory

That was a horrific loss.

"I'll be taking my officials to Georgia, Tennessee, Clemson and Florida State," Malone said. "I'm still thinking about a fifth one, but I wouldn't be surprised if I didn't take it."

Georgia: Sept. 28 vs. LSU: -- "The reason I picked that game was because it's really good to see the offense against another good defense. They didn't do too bad against Clemson, now they're going against a good SEC defense. I'll really get to see a lot and get to see how their offense is run."

Tennessee: Date TBD -- "I don't know which game yet. But I really like Coach Jones and the whole staff. The offense is interesting because it's a passing offense and they use their receivers a lot. I also want to get back up there and see their offense and how it does in a big game."

Florida State: Nov. 2 vs. Miami -- "I picked that game just because it's a very big game and there will be a great atmosphere at Florida State. I really get to see the offense, which doesn't look too bad with Jameis Winston back at the helm just killing defenses."

Clemson: Date TBD -- "I want to get back up there later on in the year. I don't know which game yet. The reason for going back for an official is just to make sure it's consistent. They've been honest in the process and I really just want to get out on campus and see. I want to enjoy myself and spend more time with the coaches talking football."

It was horrible....Kelly,Pickens, Morgan, Harper, and T Thompspn and only managed 6 points.....Sending G Amsler over the top from about four yards out still has my stomach churning.

Majors Vs Bama was like Fulmer Vs Florida. The team was always so butt puckered it was almost impossible to win. So much wasted talent.

Ron left out the best quote lol

On Vandy.

"They're still good with me," he said. "But there's a lot of worries right now around the program. That's what I really see. They've been in the headlines for a couple of months now."

Gotta think FSU stands a decent chance as they appear to have the best QB situation moving forward. Really hope Worely shows something as the season progresses. Give Josh (not only him, but us too) some confidence for next year.

On Malone's top 2:

"I think it's Georgia and Tennessee, and FSU very close if not right there with those two. Clemson is making some waves as well."

Yeah. That Winston is really good.

Any of us could have written that. And Fort gets paid for it. Ouch.

I agree with you on this sentiment of Malone. However, Paul is really one of the best in the biz. He reminds me of Kipp Adams. Kipp is relentless in his coverage. Even though Paul is limited to covering the Vols, he does a phenomenal job. He's my favorite out of all the VQ guys.
