2. WR JOSH MALONE, GALLATIN (TENN.) STATION CAMP
Malone has been one of the most sought-after wide receivers in his class and on Sunday he showed why. He has terrific length and is just as comfortable making catches in traffic as he is getting open down the field. It's tough for any defensive back to deal with Malone in jump-ball situations, because he's great at using his size to go up and snatch the ball from the air. Malone was named the offensive skill position MVP.

I just returned home from the local Gallatin breakfast gathering spot, where all of the recruiting stuff is talked about amongst the guys. Nobody there knows where he is leaning. He is tight lipped about his intentions.

"Nothing against Coach Dooley, but everyone was just kinda going thru the motions up there... with coach Jones it's more energy and a lot more exciting."

Hardees or Worshams. lol

How many WR's does everyone think we'll try to sign?IMO we only need to sign 2.Malone and Kitt.I think the recievers we've got are gonna be pretty good they just need some snaps.Croom,Bowles,Dallas,Howard,Harris,North,Jenkins,Malone & Kitt would be sick for sure.I would just hate to see some kids transfer before they even get a shot cause we try to sign 5 WR's.IMO our biggest needs on Offense would be OL.We're good at RB with Hurd and Paulk.DL and LB are another definate need!Seems like we're going to end up with a great secondary class if we can land Tabor,Gaulden & Smith,Evan Berry and either Mcdowell or Funderburk at safety.

Our staff wants a lot of WRs. I could easily seeing us get 3-5 HS kids and 1-2 JC guys depending on the circumstances. If I had to guess I would say 5 total. We already have 2 committed btw (depending on where Creamer plays)

Malone and Kitt would be outstanding. You take Booth if he wants to come as well for sure. Don't forget about Creamer though, he'll be great, even if he ends up playing a hybrid TE. I also won't be surprised to see Wharton get some snaps at slot.

You have to look at the quality of the WRs in the 2014 class and try gauge the WRs in the 2015 class and try to make an evaluation and comparison. Then base what you take in this class versus 2015.

im thinking about 4 total depending on how talented the ones we get are. i would say if we got malone and booth to go with wharton and creamer we could be done. so many other more pressing area's of concern

This is from an ESPN article looking at top uncommitted WR targets for tOSU fwiw. Malone was listed 4th behind Drake Harris, Kitt and Trevion Thompson.

Outlook: The 6-3, 190-pound Malone hasn’t indicated which direction he is going to go, but he certainly talks a lot about Tennessee. If he decides against the Volunteers, it might be a fight with other SEC teams for his services.

As mentioned above, Gallatin (Tenn.) Station Camp wide receiver Josh Malone came in ready to perform and was far and away the best wide receiver at Sunday's camp. With fellow Rivals100 wide receiver Demarre Kitt unable to attend, Malone stepped up, making his case for the top wide receiver spot in the Southeast.

Malone is long and lean, but isn't afraid to get physical at the line when need be. He runs precise routes and that combined with his physical gifts make him quite the handful for defenders.

With interest from pretty much every major program in the country, Malone is poised to be one of the most highly sought-after wide receivers in this year's class. After his performance on Sunday, he made a pretty convincing case that he should move up from his already impressive No. 72 overall ranking.

What's the most recent thing Malone has said about UT?

He gave an interview to Fortenberry 2 days ago after winning MVP at the rivals camp in ATL. Jay put up a quote from that in his post above (post 406). Here it is...

"Nothing against Coach Dooley, but everyone was just kinda going thru the motions up there... with coach Jones it's more energy and a lot more exciting."

Malone said really good things about the new staff and UT. He said Vic and Hurd are all over him about becoming a Vol.
