Ryan Callahan on 247 posted this:

No. I don't think yesterday's visits really changed anything, and I don't think the order of the visits meant anything. As I mentioned, he apparently had a pretty good idea of what he wanted to do going into yesterday's visits.

Immediately after, JC Shurburtt posted:

Malone is going to be a great player at Tennessee IMO.

Then when questioned about his prediction, he posed:

No. I firmly believe it's UT. Anything can happen though.

Barton Simmons added this after some more discussion:

gotta agree with the sentiment from JC that Malone ends up at Tennessee. I know his mother likes Clemson but with the way his recruitment has gone, the Vols have made him such a priority that I'd be pretty surprised if he didn't pick the Vols.

As ryan said above, from everything I've been told, I can't imagine Tennessee could have done a much better job recruiting Malone - a kid that was no lock to be a vol in the beginning.

Boomage?

Not quite, but let him pick anyone other than the Vols, and see where your agenda goes. :)

Seriously though, I am off work today and I'm just throwing a wrench in and enjoying some high-quality, Volnation anticipation. Which ever way the pendulum swings tomorrow, this thread is going to be in shambles.

Of course, there is a great chance I may hear something a little sooner than tomorrow, but I've promised myself to be a good boy on this one. :birgits_giggle:

Oh come on, Vol74! Just show up once you hear and throw up a smiley face or a thumbs up and that's it. We won't tell anyone :)

That's true but do they have thread with over 8000 post wondering where he's going. This size thread rivals the Gruden era.

Not hardly... the Gruden threads lasted for over XII of them irrc .... I was in all of em so this is not even close.... does not even have a second thread yet!

With all of the traffic on this thread today, I don't know if this information has been posted yet. In comments pertaining to the Mr. Football Awards banquet, Stephen Hargis stated the following:

"Monday five members of first-year UT coach Butch Jones' staff were in attendance, supporting the four four-star players and Mr. Football finalists already committed to the Volunteers and making a late push for two other highly sought in-state prospects. . . . Vols assistants Zach Azzanni, Mark Elder, Willie Martinez, Steve Stripling and Tommy Thigpen all made sure they were visible in congratulating 2014 commitments Todd Kelly Jr. (Knoxville Webb) and Derek Barnett (Brentwood Academy) as well as 2015 commits Zach Stewart (Coalfield) and Jack Jones (Oakland). And of course, they wanted to ensure that five-star receiver Josh Malone of Station Camp and four-star defensive lineman Charles Mosley of Brighton knew they were in attendance.

Malone will announce his commitment Wednesday, choosing among UT, Clemson, Florida State and Georgia, but all indications are that it will come down to the Vols and Clemson. Mosley will make his public commitment Friday and said Monday afternoon that UT was his top choice. . . . "It's a pretty hectic week for me, but I feel blessed to be in this position," the 6-foot-4, 190-pound Malone said as he clutched his Class AAA Mr. Football back of the year award. According to Malone, Jones and Thigpen have been recruiting him the most and he admitted the relationship with the UT staff has grown "pretty close" through the process. "I noticed the coaches here from a couple of the schools I'm looking at, and I thought that was pretty special to send them here today," Malone said. "It says a lot about them as a staff.

"I believe I will have my mind made up by Tuesday morning and then just keep it to myself all day and make sure I feel good about it before I announce on Wednesday" (Five UT Vols assistants attend Mr. Football award banquets | timesfreepress.com).

Not sure what to think of this...

Butch gets an A+ for effort no matter how this turns out

Nobody will put in more effort than Butch. No questoin about that. I'm not sure how to take that comment either. A lot of uneasiness for me in this one.

Poster on 247 asked the following as Callahan (247) noted he thought UT was in good position and had momentum going into the week:

Is this due to the KY game and Dobbs looking somewhat better? Or why do they have momentum?

Callahan's (247) response:

I don't think it's necessarily either of those things. The Kentucky game probably didn't hurt, but I think Tennessee's coaches simply have done a good job of making him a really big priority over the past two or three weeks, and the Vols seem to have calmed down the momentum Clemson had last week coming out of his official visit with the Tigers.

Specifically, I think Tennessee has done a good job of convincing Malone that the Vols will have playmakers around him next year and that they will be able to get him the ball in the passing game.

I'm mainly just an onlooker on the site but I do post rarely, but just because I am an onlooker doesn't mean I haven't followed this situation with Malone very closely. I've been following this one all year and I honestly refresh his thread about a thousand times a day.

With all that being said, I don't have a very good feeling about his decision and I hope that I am so wrong because I really want this kid in Neyland for 3-4 years.

The reason I don't feel very good about his decision is the due to the emphasis Malone has put on the QB position. He took a visit here and he commented about wanting to see the system and how the QB's performed. Then, instead of going to Bama he came back to Knoxville for an unofficial on what he called a trip to see how Dobbs would do.

I don't think Malone is too impressed with our QB situation and he is very very close to the Watson kid that will be attending Clemson. In the end I feel like he is going to want to go somewhere with a QB that he feels comfortable with and one that he feels like will be an elite QB.

VolNation, please convince me that this isn't a very important factor and that we are getting this guy!

If woody really said vols on 104.5 then I feel really good now. He has seemed to have the inside connection to someone

That's fine, but calling a kid and his family sensationalistic for being thorough in a HUGE life decision is silly, and it further adds to the notion that you have an ax to grind with Malone on a personal level.

IMO, that family has gone about the process in as professional and humble manner as possible. I don't see anything to lend credence to the belief that he is an attention whore. Not every kid is ready to jump in head-first to a program with a coach who hasn't proven anything like TK, Hurd, and Vic did. Thank goodness they were willing to do it, amd got the ball rolling, but you can't fault other kids for taking a more cautious approach.

If you don't have a Twitter account, then you can't be an attention whore. LOL.
