IMO anybody who holds the SEC record for receptions and yards is a program changer. esp when the team goes from a losing record to 3 consecutive bowl seasons

Mathews is now the leader in receiving yardage among active FBS players (Marquis Lee of USC is second) with 3,491 yards. Mathews, with 96 catches, is also poised to break the SEC single-season record for receptions. Current record (97) is held by Keith Edwards, also of Vandy (1983 season). WRU??????

No. You just have one good player every decade and so every play goes through him.

Our guys play on Sunday. And they get fewer catches because we have more than 1 a decade.

Actually I have, which his why I said what I said. I know y'all have the toughest policy in the SEC on violations of team rules. The kids are informed frequently what the rules are by the staff. Yet, you still have a boatload of them most years with resulting suspensions. Just like the injuries. Major losses year in and year out?

You do have a good program. Your program has cycled just like all of the other top programs in the SEC. When you are in an up cycle, if the talent is top ten you will still have winning seasons even when the rest of it is off. But that is not enough to dominate. So why is your program not dominating year in and year out.

Same reasons ours wasn't when we were in the up cycle. Player off field issues, injuries, player development. That ties back to recruiting the right character guys that are also great athletes at a high enough level, have a S&C that produces the right results, and have coaches that develop the players to fit competent schemes.

Tell me you have that now on D with Todd G. Did you have it when Jancek and Martinez were handling it? How about Bobo - the coach UGA fans love to hate? It is what it is. Not saying we wouldn't want to be at your level today. I just think the long term trends are not as good for you. They are heading north up I-75.

You are onto something about the suspensions. I am not sure that I can remember a year in the last 6-8 when UGA didn't have suspensions for the first game or two. You simply can't be an elite program if that happens, especially when you play good teams at the beginning of the year. No continuity.

This is just sad..

The much-awaited decision from Rivals100 wide receiver Josh Malone will come next week, in a ceremony at his school on Dec. 4. Malone visited Clemson this past weekend for the Citadel game and came away praising the Tigers and their staff. It seems as if Clemson is in great position to land Malone, but in-home visits over the weekend from Tennessee could complicate things.

In the end, it will come down to whether Malone likes the idea of going to Clemson to play with other high-profile offensive recruits such as five-star quarterback Deshaun Watson or he chooses to stay close to home and be a part of the re-build at Tennessee. Georgia continues to hang around, but appears to be on the outside looking in. Malone is no longer seriously considering Ohio State or Florida State.

Many of the SEC's best receivers had small impacts their freshmen years, big sophomore and junior years, and then leave. Vandy lacks talent traditionally, so when they get one on campus, they play a lot as a freshman, and stick around as a senior. Sure, some of them are great players, but their stats get inflated due to a weaker roster

That's not a slanted article or anything. "Other high profile offensive recruits." Gee, I was worried this class was going to suck.

UGA takes it's drug policy more seriously than most schools.

Again, CMR has been consistently very good, not excellent.

You have to recruit the same guys that everybody else recruits, some of those guys have character issues. Fans like to have it both ways. They will kill the staff if a 5 star guy goes out of state, but they will also kill the staff if the 5 star guy gets in trouble. Recruiting is a tricky business.

Jancek and Martinez, the same guys running your defense now. Martinez is an excellent DB's coach, not so great as a DC. Jancek, not much to say, I'll just wish you guys good luck.

I'd add being behind in a lot of games can puff up some stats.

Not taking much away from Matthews, but stats don't always mean as much as some think.

As for this guy even jokingly saying VUWRU? GTFO.

"Tennessee Football News

The entire Tennessee coaching staff is in Gallatin to visit with 4* WR Josh Malone at his home this morning."

from Facebook. Wow if true. One day before the UK game?

UGA takes it's drug policy more seriously than most schools.

I understand this, but you would think some of the players would get the message. The culture has to change. They will be tested in the NFL and lose money if suspended. Doesn't matter if they have a tougher policy or not, they will continue to have problems unless it is fixed.

SEC v. ACC?

Any other questions. We will have our own network, and exposure will be two fold at UT, especially when Butch wins a few games.

On Rivals Woody W said that the entire offensive staff is with Malone along with CBJ and Thigpen. They took a private jet to Gallatin and had a police escort to his house
