That, and we could always take a late swing at a grades risk guy like the Leggett kid from last yr(or the year before). Usually happens every year.
It's nearly impossible to take a big risk with a grades guy due to them counting against the 25 of they sign an NLI.

Now if they don't sign am NLI that's very different

When coaches get fired, take other jobs, etc., new names previously committed to other schools will pop up. Always happens.

And in years past we have needed those type kids because they were usually big upgrades in talent. Not sure that is likely the case with this class

I think its important, but I feel that Malone is too methodical and intelligent to base his decision off one game. I really think the choice has already been made, whether he is a Vol or not.

Either way, two weeks till decision day!

I'd say the reason why the Vandy game will be the decision maker is because that will be the best measuring stick for coaching progress. With playing top 10 teams there's too much disparity with player depth to make a solid analysis.

Just my opinion.

If Chad Morris leaves Clemson, there's a certain 5-star QB that we will pursue. Same for potential departures from Saban, Muschamp, Richt, and whoever else starts the dominoes falling.

Not sure that will be the case with Malone but I darn sure think that is how alot of fans will view this game. It's huge for CBJ and his public perception. If things don't go well it could spell the end of the honeymoon

Morris only one on that list that is likely to leave IMO

Geez. That's a big statement Bruin. Even for you... :ermm:

Saturday is huge for the honeymoon continuing IMO.

You don't agree if things go poorly a number of reasonable fans will start to have the slightest doubt??

I think plenty of fans have some doubt NOW ... myself included. The coaching staff looks as shaky as the players at the moment.

But my God can they recruit...

I think we close with Mosely, Malone (fingers crossed), one JUCO DT, and one other player (either an OT like Bookster, another JUCO DT, or Jakob Johnson).

Paulk and Dews grayshirt, check their threads, MDObserver and Paulk's recent tweet suggests this is accurate. I think they will find a way to have one or two players blueshirt. I still think we lose someone currently committed.

At any rate, is is really really nice to have all these kids lining up to be Vols. In one year, Butch has gone from having to go hat in hand to these kids homes trying to get them to be Vols to having a full recruiting class by early November. That is progress

Seriously people...Paulk's tweet was a song lyric

It seems that the following SEC coaches could be somewhere else next year: Sumlin (USCw, NFL), Saban (Texas), Muschamp (fired), Richt (Nebraska, retire), Franklin (jail), Spurrier (retire). Other than Franklin, if any of them ends up elsewhere, the domino effect will cause a great ripple in recruiting.

I think any criticism isn't reasonable if this team wins 6 games.

If they don't then that changes.

When CBJ was hired most felt really good about the on field stuff but worried about recruiting. Boy do the worries may have flipped

Players playing well always make coaching look better. When the players improve, the coaching will miraculously get better too. JMO.

Ron Zook was a heckuva a recruiter and a player's coach. I'm not saying CBJ is the same, just that you better believe opposing coaches are in the ears of recruits pointing out any and all flaws.

I don't think Georgia is really being considered at this point with the idea that Richt could be fired this or next year. FSU is the only real competition for us right now.

Realistically, we win. Wet field anything can happen. Advantage though goes to us.

I agree with both statements, they are insightful and understandable; however, honeymoon period who knows. Some Fans are fickle, some are loyal, one group on a short fuze the other group hasn't even thought about it.

Take the emotion out of it and it is just another game, put it in a decision based mode and more chaos and drama follows.

As fans, we spin reality towards the emotional side versus exercising patience and keeping expectations realistic.

How about him? Got anything new?

Not a thing....just trying to get back on topic lol if people want to talk about other subjects, make a post in the Football forum or another. I keep seeing new posts and I think something may be interesting with the recruits, only to find out that people aren't even talking about the recruits.

It happens when your recruiting class is 97% wrapped up by late September

It almost never is, haha. Its usually discussion with the occasional tidbit thrown in every other day.

I like to think I am a reasonable fan(most here will strongly disagree) but I am damn sure loyal. I supported DD much longer than most.

I wouldn't trade CBJ for anybody right now but I admit Saturday is HUGE for me. I won't stop supporting him but I will begin to have some doubt.

Sorry, my bad. Thought I was in the Football Forum because the content did wander off course.
