Yeah because every high school has a Calvin Johnson right? Totally unfair comparison. He has put up some pretty good stats considering he plays in a run first system. Malone is elite.

To be fair bud, we were talking about Croom right then, not Malone. The argument is about whether Pearson and Malone are good enough to unseat Croom and Smith as starters. I say yes to Malone over Smith, and no to Pearson over Croom. KB thinks different.

I say nobody's unseating nobody unless Butch says so.

Hey, the poster I've been discussing Croom with said, in his opinion, that Croom was close to being a dominant WR. I didn't compare anything about Jason to Johnson. I mentioned Calvin Johnson half kidding.... but he's a dominant WR. Croom, for now, is not. That's all.

And 8 catches for 110 yds in 6 games are not some pretty good stats... 1.4 catches for 18 yds per game? Come on now. And nb4 someone says I'm bashing him, I'm not. Just stating facts/stats and pointing out that he, along with the rest of our young WRs, although definitely improving, have a long way to go. And that we could use some elite WRs (eg, Malone and Pearson) in the 2014 class to improve the WR position

croom reminds me much more of alshon jeffery than any of the others (calvin johnson, david ricky...). and i agree croom could be a dominate receiver under the right circumstances.

My bad. I think Malone has the potential to be an absolute superstar. I would definitely take him over Smith. Pearson or Croom is a tougher choice. Croom is a bigger target especially in the red zone. I think Pearson has more speed and is more explosive. I think they are both studs and would be a coin flip as to which one i would choose. I would much rather have both of them on the field.

I know my bad. I jumped the gun and should have not posted that.

The state of our receiving corps after Robert Meachem, bret smith, and Swain left was pretty dismal and we needed Rogers to step up. I don't think we'll ever see our receiving corps be that thin as long as butch is here.

My point is Smith may never get 56 catches in a season because of guys like Pig, North, Croom, and Jonathon Johnson. Plus young developing guys like Paul Harris and Ryan Jenkins, as well as guys coming in next year like Vic, Booth, and potentially Malone and Pearson. Oh yeah, and we should have a stout running game with Hurd and co.

Smith can and probably will be productive, but I wouldn't necessarily measure it by how many catches he gets.

Austin Rogers and Lucas Taylor may not have been great but they did have great years in 2007, and they deserve more respect than they get from our fan base. Our receiving group is that thin right now. Why does everyone want to overrate our players?

Best hands? He's had more drops than everyone combined.

He certainly wasn't known for that in hs, so 6 games with 6 drops combined with Worley throwing and being a true freshman in the sec but still getting a lot of playing time. He had a hard catch that kept us in the ga game. He's got good hands. Worley has sucked except for ap and second half ga.

Smith's drops had nothing to do with Worley. That's why they're called drops instead of incompletions. They were 100% Smith's fault.

And this is coming from someone who doesn't like Worley at all.

A completed pass has something to do with qb's. You don't know if some of those arrived early, or more likely very late. He had the best hands in the state, is a true fresh, and much more pressure to catch it because he knows his qb sucks most of the time.

...and 2nd half vs Florida and 1st half vs So Ala...

He and MN outside, with Pig in the slot would just be sick. Might be as good as what we thought we would have with DaRick, Hunter and CP.
