You really wouldn't care if he were green?

For sure, he's very smart and is an excellent player. BUT, Adamsville is a 1A school, so it's really a kind of a big fish in a small pond kind of situation. Our area isn't really known as a place for great football talent so the competition isn't so great. Especially in recent years.

Actually Adamsville is 2A, I've seen the kid play on several occasions since I'm from the Hardin/Mcnairy area...he is very smart and his football IQ is up there, if he hadn't of gotten hurt last year I think you would have seen a difference in Adamsville's state championship run last year, but with that being said, he isn't SEC material, but might could play at UT-Martin or any OVC school and see some real playing time...also his character is on point and is a real good kid

Watched kid play for last 3 years. He is a good player, very smart and athletic. He has been hurt a lot and that to me has hampered him possibly. I see him at a ut martin or utc. He will be a better safety then rb imo.

I started an account 4 years ago on this board, acted like I am a LSU/SIU fan living in NC, for the hope one day my kid might one day play HS football in TN and I would have forum cred to promote him on the board, and instead of posting a thread on him during his junior year, I wait till less than two weeks before signing day.

I apparently am a better long term planner than Andy Dufresne in Shawshank.

So, new step-dad? :)

Hey Andy, how are the rocks in Shawshank treating you? Anything more than shale?

Despite what appears to be a high motor and a "coach on the field mentality", this kid is white.... don't want

Completely and utterly not racist IMO. Thank you for that. :good!:

He looks pretty legit as a safety to me. Maybe not SEC caliber but surprised he hasn't at least gotten a little more love from schools and recruiting sites.

I thought so. In yet another strange series of events, a person named Orangeblood5 post over in one LSU forum on the kid, claims he is not his dad. I wish this many people wanted to be my dad. :)

Several posters are saying he runs faster than Hillis and he ran 4.54-4.64 range with a time in 4.72 in the combine. Which is about typical FB speed or SS.

Take it for what it's worth, but I might be his adopted Dad so..... :) I would have no problem with a preferred walk-on status with the chance of earning a scholarship.

Yep. Been trying to post here too but I was in message board purgatory. Couldn't post.
Illinois just offered preferred walk on. Waiting on LSU now.

With the talent in Tennessee in recent years it's amazing to me our local colleges are missing the boat. APSU, UTM, UTC, CN, MTSU, and many more are littered with out of state talent for the sake of having out of state talent. Hell Vandy needs players right now. Totally baffling.

BTW, hope this kid has a helluva career wherever he lands. I'll always root for TN kids, especially the ones from smaller schools.

MTSU's roster is about 1/3 local kids, mostly from Middle TN, but their coaches are extraordinarily well-connected in Georgia and Florida.

Point is that why would they let borderline AQ caliber instate kids like Hawkins leave the state?

I grew up in that area and the hard part about anyone at a school as small as Adamsville is evaluating them against the other competition. Hardin County and McNairy County High Schools are much bigger, are probably the highest caliber competion a team like Adamsville will face and neither of those schools produce D1 talent. A player from A-ville would have to show out at a lot of camps to get noticed. He would be a local legend if he went to UT so I'm hoping he is good enough to get there.
