I'm unfortunately of the opinion our OL will underwhelm in 2014. Just too hard to replace all five guys and expect minimal dropoff. I think that may hold Hurd and the other RBs back some, at least against the better teams on our schedule. We will see. Anxious to hear practice reports on the OL.

Our o-line was individually talented and bought all in to the new conditioning and scheme...but it WAS their third different coach in as many years...what's put out there next year will be more representative of what the new coaching staff emphasizes...with two years worth of teaching and fundamentals...that legendary Bama line of 3 championships wasn't PHYSICALLY more talented than last years crew, they played together since they redshirted or as true freshmen...we're going to see more cohesion and teamwork imo.

I think this OL will play with something to prove. Last years was more talented but they were soft. Marcus Jackson in particular should be really good. Him and Weisman at guard should open some holes.

I do believe that the problem with our line last year was all about the scheme. I think if we would have stayed a power I team, that line would have really excelled. Those guys was big, strong roadgraders that was taught to pass protect and block straight ahead. Jones system requires athletic linemen that block according to scheme. Whether or not we have these type of guys yet, is unknown, but will no doubt play a huge part in our upcoming season reguardless of who takes the snaps and/or who they get it to from that point. Eager to see, but still afraid we could be one more rough year away from where we all want to be as an elite program.

That redshirt year is going to end up being a godsend...I agree on him beasting out...don't be shocked if he plays on Sundays someday...always thought he had more than Bullard :aggressive:

Call me crazy but I could see out OL actually being better next season. It's sucks to say it but last years group learned to lose under the previous coaching staff. Yeah, that had an inordinate amount if experience as a unit but they lost a lot of games -- several games that we shouldn't have. So they developed a loser, quitting mentality. I mean, how great of an OL were they if they couldn't push Vandy for a yard last year?

I've heard the new guys we have in are showing good things. Apparently Weisman has a real mean streak -- something last years line was missing. Also, last years guys weren't tailor made for Butchs system like these new guys seem to be, Butch wants quicker more athletic OL. I think having a new group that's had time with Butch and developed his winning, positive mindset will pay dividends.

They were never "roadgraders."

I read in Vandymania that Hurd removed "Tennessee Verbal Commit" from his twitter, followed Emmanuel Smith on twitter, and will flip to Vandy and shock the world on Wednesday!!!???!!

Oh Noes!!!!!!!!!

the offensive line will be different than last years group,if they will be better.i don't know, they should have nasty streak, something that has been missing,at least that is what i have got off of the media :) and that Hurd is going to be a great one, even if he is to short lol

Where there's smoke there's fire and the Vandymania mods are blowing a lot of smoke up people's asses :p

Something about a snowball in hell......

You DO realize he's already in classes, right?? So uh....there's exactly zero chances he can flip. You just keep on keepin' on though, sunshine.

Are the people in this thread serious? He is enrolled in school already. If he went to vandy now it wouldn't be a flip it would be a transfer which would be a longer process than just changing his mind on ND. Hoping this is a bunch of sarcasm and VN isn't this dumb... Oh wait.

Oh Noes!!!!!!!!!

The problem is that the likelihood of this being discussed between the 5 people on a Vandy board is probable...

Hurd is so fast. And so big. And so strong. I watched Fournette's tape just now, and he is all of those things too. But there is no way he is anywhere near significantly better than Hurd in any of those categories. Hurd's highlights are so nasty.

If our coaching staff figures out how to get the most out of him he could be one of the best running backs in the country.

If our offensive line overachieves this year our offense is gonna be nasty as a mug.

I have to be honest Fournette is a beast coming out of highschool(Jamal Lewis) and there's a reason why he is the #1 running back. Jalen is atleast one of the top 5 running backs in this recruiting cycle and i really look forward to him doing great things at UT!!!!

Oh Noes!!!!!!!!!

And it was replaced with "University of Tennessee RB".

The fact that you even took the time to write this when he's been attending UT for a month now is probable grounds to have you banned from Vol Nation permanently and have your Vol Card removed indefinitely.

Hahaha, I know it's a joke. Still a useless waste of a post IMO.
