Did he seriously choose #1 for his jersey? -_-

It's a honor to wear #1 at Tennessee given the former players who have worn it. He's arguably our top recruit this class, guessing he was humbled and honored to represent it. Why is it an issue?

is it my orange colored glasses or is Jalen better than Leonard Fournette?

saw a vol troll underneath the RB rankings argue this. then looked at film. i want to say yes. hard to compare junior tape to senior tape though.

The praise fournette has gotten on each and every evaluation, from rival schools that missed on him, etc... is mighty impressive. Haven't looked at his film, may do that in a second, but he seems to be pretty awesome.

Hurd is too. If I'm thinking correctly, their styles differ.

Not sure I'm the best tape evaluator. Both look incredible. But Jalen seems like he's got better vision? or blocking? or just less competition.

Fournette is better at some things.....Hurd is better at others

I dont believe so...harvin is/was a lot faster

From the tape I watched I really do think Speedy is going to be a really good player. Too early IMO to know if he will be the player that Harvin was at UF. Either way I think he's a special athlete. With that said, I'd rather have Malone. All indications are that he's going to do great things at UT.

Are you guys crazy talking like Tabor is trash? Dude is good, only thing he's lacking is elite speed. His other skills are elite, especially his ball skills.
No. Not every "elite 5*" is really elite. I don't think Tabor is. It's my opinion. Your's differs. So what?

Speedy put up some impressive numbers at The Opening. 40 wasn't sub 4.4, but a 4.46 is really fast, combine that with his 3.87 shuttle, I'd say he's on the same athletic level of Percy, if not he's real close.

The opening numbers tend to be pretty exaggerated, no?

Still has a chance to be a beast.

How is Hurd looking so far in the workouts?

He looks good according to several we gave talked to. He moves very well for someone his size.

He's been cleared to do all the workout stuff and from all accounts looks the part early on.

I never said he wasn't a good player. Top 100 player but no way is he in the top 10 or the #1 ATH

Harvin is a low 4.3 guy. Harvin was dynamic in many aspects of the game. I dont believe Noil will be the same. He will be good and maybe A&Me best WR in a couple years, but he hasn't shown me anything besides just dropping back to pass then booking it to the sideline.

I gotcha. You may be right on the whole #1 athlete thing. Harvin was just a different animal coming out of high school. He was a sure fire going to be awesome type player whereas Noil is a guy that does flash that ability and there's a possibility that he could be that type of impact player but it's too early to tell.

Hurd is so fast. And so big. And so strong. I watched Fournette's tape just now, and he is all of those things too. But there is no way he is anywhere near significantly better than Hurd in any of those categories. Hurd's highlights are so nasty.

If our coaching staff figures out how to get the most out of him he could be one of the best running backs in the country.

If our offensive line overachieves this year our offense is gonna be nasty as a mug.

With Hurd, UT has something it has not had in a very long time. A RB with the potential to take every single run to the house.

This is true, if the interior lineman can create a little seam, he'll easily run through arm tackles of those DTs and likely run by or over most linebackers and has the speed to outpace the secondary.

Having him on campus as an EE 9 months before the season starts is so huge. It really is like he and all the EE's have an extra year of eligibility.

I'm unfortunately of the opinion our OL will underwhelm in 2014. Just too hard to replace all five guys and expect minimal dropoff. I think that may hold Hurd and the other RBs back some, at least against the better teams on our schedule. We will see. Anxious to hear practice reports on the OL.

Eh, I wasn't too impressed with the run blocking from our line last year. They were manhandled in some regards. That being said, I think we will definitely miss them in the pass-protection aspect of the offense. All of them had nice footwork and kept our QBs clean for the most part.

I'm afraid that you're gonna be right on this. I still think we have the opportunity to loosen up defenses with the screen game and find ways to make things easier on the offensive line. We're obviously not going to be able to line up and pound the ball down our conference foes throats when they know it's coming, but we can work around that with sharp play calling.

Freshman or not, we've got like 4 or 5 guys right now that can get the ball to the checkerboards from anywhere on the field. It feels like it's been a while since we could say that.
