This post is very underrated. The key will be if Bajakian knows what to do with both in the backfield.

I think Bajak likes to use the middle of the field. Used the TE a ton in prior stops. Not having a good TE and Devrin being didn't help an 18 yr old qb who you already have to be careful with about throwing over the middle. Its a concern for all young qbs.

I think people are reading to much into this season's vanilla style offense we saw. The guy is a good coordinator but can only give the players what they can grasp. Once they have a better grasp on the offense and more experience in the offense then he can do more creative things with them.

I think coming into the season it will be Lane then Hurd as a solid #2, because Lane knows the offense well. We could almost have a smash and dash with both of them.

Hurd is an EE. He a Lane would be a nice rotation. Fresh legs. Lane needs to work on 'ball security.

Nope.

Have friends attending practices. They practice it all and much of the time it is executed fine. Jake chooses to go conservative in games. Some of the easiest plays to execute he rarely calls. A lot of this is on him. They had absolutely nothing to lose by opening it up more since nothing was expected out of this team this season.

Let's see here, am I gonna believe Vols4us "friends" who attend practices or the players and coaches who participate in practices?? Decisions, decesions ... My money is on the later!

I was referring more to the run game. I felt he could have been more aggressive in the run game when he had Neal and Lane in the backfield.

He could have been more creative when he had both Lane and Neal in the backfield. One is a senior, the other is a junior. Smh

How many times did Lane lose a fumble this year? I'm not sure where the ball security concerns are coming from.

He's 1-1, his fumble Sat, this yr., 3-2 in '12 and 3-2 in '11. The concern is what the stats do not show, the close-calls.
The issue lies in his style / the way he carries the 'ball in traffic (both in practice and gms) and it has gotten him in trouble / "dog house". Graham worked with him as is Gillespie and, in fairness he's improving.

Would not like that move...they evaluated and evaluated him and finally gave it to him. then once he gets hurt you pull it. Yeah, i doubt he loses it. Rivals would be under alot of fire from UT fans for that one

"@rivalsmike: #Rivals100 Monday around noon ET, six new five stars, one player losing that coveted fifth."

Could Jalen be the one player they are talking about? If that's the case then their rankings truly are a joke, because anyone with any football sense can see how special this kid is. If they pull his 5th star because of injury that would be a complete sham.

Rivals does whatever they want and sometimes make no sense but I doubt Hurd loses a star. He was bumped to a 5 just before being injured. It's not like he had a bad senior season, he just missed all but 1 game with an injury. No new film or evaluations to change his rating, IMO.
