Booth made a sad cause he's not in the club yet

Jalen Hurd, a Tennessee commit is an unusual site to see standing with the running backs as he's 6'3, 230-pounds. Can he stay at running back? He showed pretty good ability to run routes and catch the football. He ran somebody over in drills, and earned an invitation to The Opening. Could he project to other positions? Absolutely, but can he play running back in the SEC? Based on what we saw, yes he can.

From an OSU site...

YA' HURD ME?

There are occasionally players that just look different, and Tennesse commitment Jalen Hurd fits that description. From the start of the camp, Hurd displayed an athletic ability that was not matched by many. He's got incredible size/speed combination and a graceful, almost effortless stride that almost lulls you to sleep before he runs you over. He was uncoverable in one-on-one drills (against linebackers) and in most cases he didn't even attempt to juke them, instead deciding to just run them over before continuing on his route. Two-on-one? No matter for Hurd either. He was able to dart and dash around and between anyone who attempted to stop him. Only once did I see someone prevent him from reaching the endzone, Toledo Central Catholic 2015 linebacker Chris Green got a good angle on him, and even then it's debatable if he'd have been stopped in a non-two-hand tap setting. Hurd received the biggest uproar of the day from his peers when he used the truckstick on St. Ignatius linebacker Dameon Willis, Jr. in the one-on-ones.

To be fair to the linebackers, these events really don't provide them much of an opportunity to come out on top, but Hurd's overall ability just jumped out at you. There's a reason Ohio State was courting him with such fervor.

The reason RCVol thinks Jalen looks "lanky" is because RCVol is 5'-6" and weighs 486 pounds. A baby elephant would look lanky compared to him.
:) :eek:lol:  :yahoo:

Love inside information

Don't say his name again. I think he may be like Beetlejuice. One more time and we won't be able to get rid of him.

Did a video interview with scout:

Will be on campus June 14, 15

Still recruiting guys

Paraphrasing, when talking about after committing to UT, it's your responsibility to get out and recruit with the rest of your family (other UT commits) and pull your weight. They all seem to hold each other responsible for getting UT back to the top.

He seemed to have gotten along really well with Joe Henderson

All Vol!

ESPN write up.

2. Jalen Hurd

One linebacker asked to go up against Hurd in pass drills. He probably regrets that decision. The linebacker tried to muscle Hurd, but the result was the Tennessee commit instead barreling over the linebacker, catching the pass and waltzing into the end zone. Built more like a linebacker, Hurd held his own in pass protection and then showed his athleticism in one-on-one drills against the linebackers.

“I would say the RB, that one MVP, Jalen Hurd,” Shai McKenzie, who has more than 30 offers, said when asked who impressed him most. “He’s a good athlete, powerful. … His route running is better than most. I watched the explosion in his routes and I picked up a little bit.”
