One of them is a junior in high school, the other has been in a strength and conditioning program for more than ten years.

Jacobs was 260 coming out of high school

Edit: I'm not saying Hurd can't play RB, just think he's a much different body type than Jacobs is.

He is definitely a different body type at this phase compared to Jacobs in high school. I just think he could still add bulk and get to a weight that is proportional to his height for a rb.

Then we agree. I can see him puttin on a good 20-25 lbs and playing at 230-235. Beast

Meyer is trying to sell Hurd on the idea of being a tight end in the mold of Aaron Hernandez, which could be dead on the money.

Hurd is a talented kid, who could play RB or TE equally well.
Ridiculous that CUM is recruiting him to the University who produced a heisman in the same mold of JH and he's talking tight end?? Totally ridiculous.

Urban Meyer came by BHS yesterday? Sumner County schools were out yesterday. Did they meet at Worsham's Market?

I wouldn't say that Vandy has "no chance" but I hope you're right and the Vandy lovers at BHS are wrong.

No, they met at the field house. Jalen and the entire coaching staff came in and met a coach that had an appt scheduled with Jalen for 2 weeks. How is that so hard to believe?

tOSU is recruiting him as a RB. There has never been mention of moving him to TE.

I believe it. I was just joking about Worsham's Market.:)

Yeah, I have only heard of Hurd being recruited as a RB at OSU. From my understanding that was part of what pushed him away from Bama in the first place (the fact that they wanted him as a WR/TE rather than as a true RB).

I'd be slightly surprised if he sticks as an OSU lean, though. The Eddie George comparison someone made earlier sort of sparks my sentimentality, as I've been a lifelong Eddie George fan--and I do agree, they have a very similar skill-set (big, strong, long stride, natural runner, ability to break tackles, great top-speed and acceleration). But George was used in a traditional OSU pro-style offense, Meyer currently runs the Spread. I'd have to think Hurd ends up with a team that runs a pro-style offense that'll give him the ball for 25+ carries/game, don't know that OSU's style of offense would be as conducive to that as Tennessee's, Florida's, etc.

It has been mentioned in OSU cirlces that Meyer sees him as another Aaron Hernandez type TE. Same frame and better speed.

Hey Vol74...What are you hearing about Muschamp's visit today? The only time I saw that JH was called out of class today was when he was called to the principles office this AM (usually it's for something silly like being tardy). Did he make it up?

To my understanding, he wasn't at school today due to going to the doctor (shoulder). He did meet up with Muschamp though. I don't have any details yet though.

@MrHurd18: So I get into the car with my mom and I ask who's she on the phone with. She says, "Shh!". I then ask,"Who?". She says Butch Jones!!
#haha

Muschamp stopped by earlier this week as well. This kid would be better served at UF, or UT, or numerous places other than tOSU. Urban's track record with big backs isn't very strong. Usually they get about 5 carries per game, while the QB & smaller/quicker backs carry the load.

You obviously did not watch a single tOSU game last year

Obviously tOSU is the most annoying fanbase in the country. (insert Florida joke here)

Although slightly more bearable than gouging my eyes out...I actually watched several tOSU games last year. And of course, I watch Urban at UF for 6 years. I realize that Carlos Hyde (a guy who Urban recruited as a Fullback at UF) almost had 1000 yds. Decently impressive given that he still trailed Miller in carries.

But therein lies the point.........he still had less carries than the QB. I assume you're trying to argue that by virtue of Hyde *almost* reaching 1000 yds, that tOSU's offense is easily suited for a big back like Hurd. In addition, once Urban gets his speed back, carries for the big back will decrease even more. Case in point, UF had Deshawn Wynn (a big back) Urban's first 2 years at UF and he got decent carries. But, as soon as UF got some speedsters all of the big backs were negated to very few carries.

i understand what your trying to say, but using those numbers does not make your argument for 2 reasons. First of all, Hyde missed a few games due to an injury, if not for those missed games/carries, hes easily a 1200-1300 yard back. 2nd of all, your also factoring in Braxton's "carries" that were not designed runs but on a broken play.

I can assure you that Hyde was the biggest part of our offense last year and that Hurd is being recruited as a featured RB, not a converted TE. That I can tell you with 100% certainty.
