Saban is recruiting him as an athlete. But it may hurt UA's chances in the end.

“Athlete is something I don’t mind being labeled and being recruited to go to that college to play because I can come in and prove my point of what I can play and what I can’t play,” Hurd said. “It’s not that big of a deal, but I may show other schools a little more interest because they’re recruiting me as a running back.
“I’m trying to prove the point that I’m a big guy, and I can run the ball. I’m just trying to show that by my stats.”

This pretty well makes my point. If he really wants to play RB, and commits to Bama, well, he knows what he's gotten himself into. If he beats out all those guys, then he certainly deserves to reap what he has sown. If he rides the pine for 2-3 years, he deserves it as well. He knew what he was getting into.

If I want to play RB, then I'm skeptical of anyone recruiting me as an athlete.

I was at the game last night also... He had 47 yards rushing in the first half... Didn't see a single run I was impressed with until the 4th and 3 call at the end of the 3rd quarter... That was a big time run that I was waiting to see... He was impressive the rest of the game... This kid is good, nice moves and deceptive speed I think because of his size...

Very close game.. But the kid beat us by himself last night. He does it all. If you weren't there you missed a guy take over a game alone like I've never seen before.. He's the real deal.

He put the team on his back last night and no one can doubt that. Also as a bonus stat he got an interception on H'ville's last deep pass attempt.

Was at the game and this kid is the real deal. He completely owns every play or assignment that is asked of him and is just a natural. Also, he is probably built more like a WR but I don't think I'd mind him getting to try out RB. Kid has a good frame and can add on good weight and he runs with power. Could be a good power back.

Hurd sounds like an absolute stud...with that said, this time last year we were all going crazy over the two backs out of Georgia that ended up not being as good as we all thought.

I hope we get Hurd, but I have learned to slow down my concern over the following year's recruiting class.

top five of alabama, ohio state, georgia, florida and vanderbilt per local paper today.

No real cause for concern. It's still early. Tennessee has the perfect role for kids like this in our offense. Neal is proving to be a prototype for the type of back we want, imo. Explosive threat for yards from scrimmage, running or catching. The Kamara's and Hurd's of the world, would be smart to recognize this.

Think Hurd is playing an undefeated Wilson Central team tonight. Anyone got anything on this one yet?

Wilson Central 7, Beech 7 at halftime.

Jalen Hurd has been bottled up for the most part. He has 49 yards on 13 carries and 1 TD.

Hurd was injured in the game tonight and had to leave the game. I do not know the severity of the injury. Beech did win the game 17-14.

Has a dislocated shoulder. May be a torn labrum. Only used as a decoy most of second half. Will update as I find out more.

If this is true this was his best game all year. That's an extremely painful injury to even come in and be a decoy with. I respect him for just playing.

:salute:

He was used as a decoy for most of the third quarter and I didn't see much of him on the field in the fourth at all. I knew something was wrong when we started throwing the ball, because we usually only throw 6-10 times in a game AT MOST. Also Jalen was taking shots all game and I was surprised to see him stay out there as long as he did.
