'14 TN OL Paul Adams

VQ mods said they'll take 1 JUCO, possibly 2 if it's the right fit. 5 total OL this cycle. I could see them taking 6 if they take 2 JUCO.

Agree with these numbers. I don't see the huge dropoff everyone is predicting with the line. Crowded, kerbyson, posey, Jackson, sanders, weisman are all solid guys. Maybe pair will develop a little. Throw in 2 jucos with this class and I think they could be pretty darn solid.

I disagree. There are bigger fish to fry at OL. We have our developmental players at OL for this cycle already. We tried to take 5 OL last year, but with the coaching change we ended up with 3. That makes 3 OL in two cycles, and that is a formula for not winning in the SEC.

Paul Adams said he is going to camp at UT and he may earn an offer. Our staff still has time here.
Should have worded better. I was just meaning if we were to offer Adams, I would rather offer Bruno and Pyke. JMO. Definitely agree there are bigger fish out there

Nothing against those guys, but you don't replace 4 draft picks without a significant drop off.

I would be reluctant to offer either right now. We need to put the press on Wynn or the Juco guys (Mavety and Eluemanor) in my opinion.

Guys that can replace Tiny, J. James, J. Stone etc.. Bruno should only be considered at DT IMO. He is a little short for OL anyways.

Vandy crushed us, Troy took us to the wire. We were bad. That's not an excuse, it's a fact, just look at our record. Mizzou has been in the SEC for one year, and in that 1 year, they were pretty much stomped on by the whole conference. A Mizzou offer isn't special at all.

What about the Ole Miss and Miss St offers for Adams? Garbage as well? They have been around a little more than a year in the SEC. Like any fan I want to see us get the best of the best every year. What we can not do is think we are in a position to only take the best and end up short on numbers like in the past. Yes, that includes the last class when we could have taken a few kids who wanted to be Vols, but decided to wait and see who we could pick up after NSD.

Ole Miss offer was probably not committable, It's not even listed on Rivals. Miss St, yeah, pretty garbage. The fact that they beat us shouldn't (and doesn't) impress anyone.

I see your point about ending up short on numbers, but at the same time, we can't take marginal talent while there is still elite talent on the table, especially this early. Coaching only goes so far. If we wanna get back to competing for National Championships (which we should be), we gotta be bigger, faster, and stronger than everyone else. It sucks that you have to snub some of these in state kids, but that's the nature of the beast. UT can't survive off of in state talent right now. It's getting much better, but it's still not as good as the rest of the south.
