'14 TN OL Akeem Cooperwood

I feel like the potential is there but he hasn't put it together at all yet. Still plenty of time.

Still wouldn't be bad for us to give him his first offer. It could be conditional on several things.

Butch could chalk it down to putting up the fence, and it always looks good to offer the Knox kids. (Though taking them all is not always a great idea)

That's why you have O-line coaches.

You cant teach "sick'em"...you either got it or you dont. Will defer to the Butcher of course but look at all the early offers going out and not one for a local who would committ on the spot. Gotta make ya wonder.

So what are you saying? Pass on him and go get a three star from another state? This kid is a monster. I don't care who else offers him, I hope we do.

I hope we offer too. Heck, even if he turns out lazy we could plug him in at NT on run downs and let him eat up the center and two guards...

If you can motivate this kid in the work out room and get him motivated on the field then he could be a monster at his size, and coaches can in fact motivate. It's a prt of their job.

I heard his mother works for UT. Would he get a free ride because of that, and maybe we can take him as a walk-on

Last time I heard (few weeks back) that he don't hear from UT. I guess they're not interested! Or they are playing the local kid game. Someone will get a steal with him in my opinion, he will need a redshirt yr but most OL do.

Let him drive 6 miles for a camp this summer and show his stuff, IMO

Shoot. He's gonna have to bust his butt, work out like a beast, and get lean and mean on a mission if he's gonna play for Butch's team. GO VOLS!!

I'm not sure his education would be 100% free. Maybe a 50% discount.

You could be right about that. I shouldn't have said completely free. At the colleges I've worked at the tuition remission was 90% for students of parents who were employees. I was assuming it was around that number at most schools.

No it wouldnt

Yes it would be AC. Local kid who has huge upside and tons of next level potential surely they can see that. UT plays the "we're interested" card with him but he don't hear much from them like he does other schools. He hears from LSU, FSU, Duke, Vanderbilt and Louisville the most (last I heard).... Also, heard he was showed much more love from coaches at Vandy than UT on Junior Day visits. Third party though so takes FWIW.

According to his facebook he visited Louisville over weekend and liked it a lot. Can't recall the exact quote but must have liked CCS there and also mentioned something to likes of "UL showed most love"...

Can't he go to UT for free with his mother being an employee? No need to use a scholarship if that is the case. He could come in as a preferred walk on.

Assuming he qualifies for the hope yes, if not then it still wouldn't be very much.

It is true his grades aren't the best, but rumor has has it that he is spending a lot more time in tutoring and ACT prep studies. For his sake I hope he really improves his grades cause I'd like to see this kid play on Saturdays.
