'14 TN K Aaron Medley (UT Signee 2/5/14)

I like how the author of that article

1. Blames dooley for "retaining" the #1 kicker and punter in their class

2. Calls palardy "Shaky" after this year.

Noticed that, as well as the reference to Dooley's "ballyhooed special teams prowess"...hahahaha

I'm pretty positive that article was from before the season right after Medley committed.

I've seen the kid kick personal being from my area. Don't let the 3- 6 on fg. worry you. The kid has the leg and more importantly gets the ball high quick,no more man boobs blocks in our future. Watch the Under Armour AA game and enjoy.

Good stuff. My gut is telling me now that I won't be on my knees begging in front of the tv when this kid has to kick. Like I did with Lincoln and Palardy.

Come on man! Don't bust the balls of the Florida kickers that gave their all for Tennessee! I'm sure they wish they would have done better at times too.

I know what you mean. Wasn't exactly on the best team. The videos tell me more that I posted. Has a heck of a leg already.

Seems like a great kid, but reading all of that makes me wonder. One of the best kickers in the nation is 3-6 kicking field goals?

Wondered how long it would take to point this out, in addition makes 87% of his extra points.

Might be the kick off guy and punter.

I pointed it out but then I thought about it. The team he's on is generally pretty bad. Blocks probably played a part in it. Search on YouTube the kid has a great leg no doubt about it. Accuracy will be what needs to be worked on.

Aaron is ranked so high based a lot on how he has kicked in camps and combines. Very happy to have him on board and he will step in immediately and kick for us the next 4 years.

Bullock should provide plenty of competition.

"This weekend, the nation's 4th ranked kicker was on his official visit in Knoxville and left impressed and focused on the opportunity before him. "It was awesome," Medley said. "It was really great. First class in every way. I really enjoyed hanging with the players and getting to know my future teammates better."

"Their message to be was to prepare and to come in and take the job," Medley said. "They made it clear that all three jobs are wide open." "I can do all three," Medley said. "I feel like I'm more developed as a placekicker and in doing kickoffs."

"For college it's about being perfect inside 40 yards. My entire focus is to improve my consistency," Medley said. "I feel good range wise somewhere between 50-55 yards depending on the conditions. But in college you gotta be automatic inside 40 which is why my consistency is my focus right now."

"I started kicking off the ground in practice during my sophomore year," Medley said. "About half way through this season, we stopped kicking off the tee and started kickoff of the ground. One of the adjustments is that it's a big change for your holder and not just you as the kicker. "I think kicking off the ground in games is a huge help for me in getting ready for college because I have done it in competitive situations and not just working on it in practices."

Having handled all of the Tigers' kicking duties since his freshman year, Medley has hit 111-of-121 extra points, made 20-of-32 field goal attempts, highlighted by a school record 50-yarder against Spring Hill during his junior campaign, and boomed 120-of-196 kickoffs into the end zone for touchbacks during the course of his MCHS career, while averaging 41.7 yards per punt over the last two seasons.

That's pretty good, and I'm no kicking specialist, but it seems that 62% FG number could stand to improve.
