per Woody Womack on VQ

Well I guess it's not midnight in Knoxville yet but you get the idea.

I can tell you that I'm as close 100 percent confident as I can get that he will sign with Tennessee in the morning. I reconfirmed the information I was told earlier today and nothing has changed. I know there are a lot of rumors and all sorts of speculation but I stand by my sources here.

I have really enjoyed how Woody covers things for Rivals. Top notch imo.

I think Woody likes and respects Jones for his recruiting prowess (keeps him in his job, too), but trust me, he has no love for Tennessee. He was the first one to torch Tennessee fans who thought Adoree was throwing up the Vol shocker in one of the all-star games.

Tennessee appeared to have plenty of momentum with Sawyers following his official visit to Knoxville over the weekend and had emerged as the favorite to land the former Vanderbilt commitment, but Ole Miss surged back into the picture Tuesday to make it a neck-and-neck battle between the Vols and Rebels heading into the final hours before signing day. The 6-foot-2, 300-pound Sawyers and his family were in contact with Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze’s staff Tuesday, and the Rebels apparently caused Sawyers to think about his decision until at least late Tuesday night. It wasn’t clear whether he had made up his mind by late Tuesday night, but some close to Sawyers still believed he was a bit more likely to sign with Tennessee on Wednesday. Sawyers is scheduled to announce his decision at approximately 11:15 a.m. Eastern time during a signing-day ceremony at Ensworth. - Ryan Callahan

What we're hearing this morning...

Obviously, all eyes are still on Cory Thomas and Michael Sawyers. As both Mike Ferrell and Woody Wommack have posted here last night and this morning, and as we've alluded to, barring something crazy happening Sawyers seems destined for Tennessee this morning. His announcement is scheduled to go at about 11 EST, but a fax could come sooner than that.

Now, it's getting wild with Thomas. Late last night we had several people telling us Clemson was feeling good about their chances heading into today while Tennessee seemed to be running behind the Tigers. But, the Vols were battling in that one until late last night.

This morning it was the same vibe until about an hour or so ago when Mississippi State made a big push this morning for Thomas. Heading into today it was Clemson and Tennessee from talking to everyone around him, but Mississippi State has put on the full court press. He was set to do something around 10:30 today, we will see if that's when he announces or not.

From our conversations this morning Tennessee is fighting an uphill battle with Thomas but are in very good shape with Sawyers. Now, back to watching the fax cam.
