It's been a fun day in middle Tennessee! Butch worked the student population at BA like no other. I can't believe we are less than a week before signing day and are in this good shape! I was told today that Sawyers visit would actually be an unofficial visit so that a blue shirt could be used possibly. It may not be necessary but at least it could be an option. I defer to Paul and Brent to confirm or refute this. Pretty good source though.

On a lighter note, Thig did not cook crab legs tonight at the Barnett's house. Ms. Barnett insisted on cooking for Butch and Thig. Not sure what was on the menu. Butch, Thig and my friend were planning on meeting up for a beer after the meeting and I wasn't able to nudge my way in or I might have all kinds of fun stuff to talk about.

Anyway, as you can tell, it's pretty quiet. I saw a post that Rashaan said nothing to worry about with Derek. Schools have definitely been trying and he would love to go have some fun, but at the end of the day, he's a VFL and I really don't think he has waivered on that. Kind of weird to be less than a week away and it's pretty boring but let's keep it that way!!! We have a great class! GBO!!

Per Vandymania on Sawyers, the butthurt is almost more than I can bear..but I quote..." I could give a crap where he visits right now. He decommited before a coach was even in place at VU so I pay him no mind. So what if he visits UT this weekend. He can join the other 37 commits you guys have. Maybe if he's lucky he'll get a "blueshirt" offer like Roberson got. In the end, they'll all under perform at UT because that's what you guys are about...you suck in lot of talent based on the flash of your facilities and your pre-1998 history and then 90% of them under perform. You haven't had a recruiting class outside the top 25 since 2008 and what have you done with those classes? Jack crap.

So what if your former coach goes on a pro-vol radio show and says the guy has a chance of coming there? He might. He also is heavily favored to Ole Miss right now on every site I've seen. Despite where he ends up it doesn't matter to me in the least."

THIS....is vandymania folks......total freaking meltdown..................GBO!!!!!!!

ok

Jones and Thigpen also were by Ensworth to see Michael Sawyers as Sawyers is expected to be in town this weekend. If he does make it in town, the Vols are certainly a real factor here heading into the weekend and it will be interesting to see how things play out coming out of his visit.

As for Sawyers, it seems it is either Georgia Tech or Tennessee for the four-star defensive lineman and with Sawyers being a little bit unsure of what he's doing this last month, it's tough to get a read of what's going on there but if he makes it on campus the Vols are very much a threat in this one.

Sorry for the confusion. Those paragraphs weren't consecutive. The second one came after talking about Thomas being down to Clemson or UT. So I think they're saying Sawyers is going to sign with either GT or UT, those are his top 2. I think that's what VQ is saying.

It's been said he doesn't want to go far from home, not more than 3-4 hours. Sounds like Ole Miss must be 3rd. Bottom line is that his friends are going to UT, it's closest to home and he could play right away. If he shows up, Vol.

Here is something that works for me.....not caring how the numbers work out but assuming they will. Jones gets paid 3 million to figure it out. It isn't a part of recruiting that is fun for me. I'm not getting paid therefore I don't worry about it.

Didn't say I was worried just every thread I troll I see something about numbers or colored shirts. so I try to figure it out for a little bit. How can I be worried with a top five class and the momentum butch has with a non bowl season. But I do care how the numbers workout tho. Two post this week I'm on fiiiirrreeee!!!!!!:pepper:

Hate to give credit to a Vandy dbag but many many many of our players have underperformed and this is a problem going back to the Fulmer days.

VandyMania? There is such a thing?

And it would appear something is being done about that. Come on Wednesday. Time to get the house in order.

Either we don't understand the exact requirements to be able to offer a Blueshirt, or if he takes an UOV this weekend, then it's not so he can blueshirt. Based on prior discussion, any coach, especially the head coach, cannot visit the recruit off campus in an arranged meeting. Is dropping by Ensworth to see him considered arranged? Or is that within the terms of the definition?

I just sure hope these players develop into true playmakers at the college level. This class is special and I feel like it's finally going to happen; but I can remember as far back as 2002-03 seeing FR-SO players at UT making plays and thinking to myself "man by the time they're seniors they're going to be awesome" only to think in 04-05 "wtf why don't our players get any better? They make the same fundamental mistakes as seniors that they made as FR-SO." Literally it just always seemed like the norm, rather than exception, was for players to be about as good as they were ever going to get in their debut.

Surely I wasn't alone in that observation back then.

Sometimes coaches go by the high school just to be "seen" and no contact is actually made.

Hopefully that is the case here and a blue shirt is possible

Lol I know right? But really IIRC Fulmer had some pretty big dud recruits his last 4-5 years. He didn't get fired for nothing

Very true. But I think every program has big dud recruits. I think that's why you try to get a bunch of big recruits every year, you don't suffer as much when some don't pan out.

I'm too lazy to do it, but I'd really be curious for someone to break down Bama's classes over the last five years and analyze as a percentage, how many of these 4 and 5 star players truly realized their potential there. I'd imagine there are tons of "busts" in those classes...

Not sure if I would like the Blueshirt option for this guy. Wouldn't it mean that he is not officially with the team until he enrolls in the fall? If so, Vandy, Ole Miss, Mizzou, etc will be all over him until then trying to flip him. I'd rather see him signed on the 5th and blueshirt someone else if possible.

A blue shirt is a risk but here is the way I see it.

If there isn't a spot then taking that risk is better than nothing at all. 50/50 is better than no chance at all

Now the easiest solution is for the Berrys to blue shirt. Maybe they don't OV this weekend

I like that option better.
